BC RX-8 Vancouver: Club discussion: Round 2
I think we are locking down the name and logo for the BCRX8 club, soon. (This is from the previous thread: Club name discussion: Round 1)
Burnaby rx-8 and I would like to discuss some ideas about roles and interests of our members. The roles listed may change based on your input, nothing is set in stone. It is also possible that we may have less, or perhaps even more then what is listed.
The information being presented is based on discussions with "burnaby rx-8".
I think he will be taking control of this thread.
(If I may put my two cents in, I'd love to be "Marketing / Media" organizer, or even a member of that group)

Club vinyls - web solution.
http://www.canadadisplaygraphics.com...ers-canada.php
Found a good web based Canadian company for doing our club vinyls.
- No logo has been definitely agreed to yet... but you know.... at least we'll be set, soon as we all like one of the proposed logos (soon to come).
As far as where this might go, just thinking this would be awesome to have a 6X12 inch (portrait) style vinyl that is all black, with our new logo and club name on it, we could stick it to the (interior) back seat divider (the one that opens off).
Some exterior places that doesn't impede visibility would include:
- The driver side rear passenger window (who looks out of that window anyway?)
- The area immediately behind the rear view mirror, since it already blocks 20% of the windshield.
- The lower right hand corner (passenger side) windshield area might be good.
- The upper center area of the rear window (the blacked out area)
Something else that might be worth looking into... once we have a nominated individual who organizes group buys... we could have our own club shifter ****. Just an example... but the back lit red LED **** is one of many fabulous RX8 themed ***** we might like (just thinking out loud).
I might change this thread to be more geared around logo development soon if no one steps up to the plate to talk about some of these club titles.

Well, its nice to see someone else trying this this time, We had a bunch of us trying to get something going a few years ago, but there was never enoug interest. Hopefully there are a lot more people interested in this nowadays.
If you are coming out for the lunch tomorrow, we can most likely all talk about it while chowing down.
My suggestion for a vinyl would be along the lines of what I have as my avatar, but its mainly cuz its canadian and mine hehehe if I had my car back yet, I could show it to you tomorrow, but, its still getting fixed

I'd love some vinyl stuff. And yeah... I mentioned the painted red interior with a vinyl logo on the centre passthrough thing. Check it out from this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ed+passthrough
And I wouldn't mind helping organize events. I like events. I guess our cruise in June is a bust, but we can do it some other time.. And we should have a barbeque! That sounded fun!

I like #8 and 9. I think the black won't conflict with exterior color as much as say.. the full BC flag might. And simple designs seem to work well =D. Backlit LED ****? I gotta see that o__o
Nice work, btw!

Good work Tim, nice selections. The flag thing is appropriate but find it too flashy, all of the logos with rotary looks good. But given a choice I'll take no. 8, it got our club's name and it looks clean. Btw is this the actual size ?

Hey Tim, could you find that sketch/gesture drawing of the rotory (the one Dan and I were talking bout) and put in on a logo for us to see (I kind of like it better because it is more stylized yet simple, and has a sense of motion too). The rotor shapes that you've posted up are cool, but they kind of look like shields or crests. I'm not quite sure what it is but I think it's just lacking contemporary style and sexiness. Maybe it needs a skull or something incorporated into it! haha Also, could you put a red maple leaf and a chrome colour rotor on a few of the logos too? If it's not too much trouble

A suggestion, talk with Polak from polak graphics, he has an excellent rotor design which many people have ordered from on this site, he is also the person I got the rotor with the maple leaf cut out from, and it is very detailed.
Maybe see if he would be willing to help with some of the detail for the graphic?

Good comment!

In any case, what we are looking for here is not a copy cat (Otherwise we would have already bought the Polak vinyls - they do look cool after all)
What we are looking for, is a distinctive graphic moniker. Something unique to our club that is distinguishable, but at the same time paying homage to the original rx8club logo. Pretty simple, once the final design is established, I guarantee you the final vector for this image will be groomed by a design studio, and of course, myself. Should we ask Polak if he would be willing to assist with the design - (for free) of course.
Also, I've been looking for the website that offers the illuminated clutch shifter... and it was in front of my the whole time! thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I am hoping that someone here on this forum has some experience with this shifter. Perhaps, offer their own impressions of its value as a rx8 product - and if there are any unseen issues. (This might be a cool product for group buy?)
Thanks for your input inconsequential!
Cheers

our club website - Discussion: Round 3 (to come)
I'd like to have Rays website involved with the clubs. (You can do joint webspaces after all) - it is possible to have each location dedicated to delivering different information, but combined in one forum. (I'll explain in the next meeting) - and in a following thread (once our logo is secured).
Unless, you all want to jump ahead for it?
