Thumbs up BC RX-8 Vancouver: Club Logo Discussion: Round 4

This is a continuation of the following threads:
Club name discussion: Round 1)
Club name discussion: Round 2)
Club name discussion: Round 3
This final phase, we will take the best logo (which was approved by our club president: Master Chief: Burnaby rx-8).

This final logo will be a variant derived from the 5D1 and 5D3 with suggested tweaks, once the logo is hardened and polished more, we will proceed to the next phase.

The final acid tests: seeing our logo in action on pictures of our cars.
Examples to come:
- The Logo as a letter head,
- Business card,
- Possibly a club belt (I have a connection),
- Racing helmet application

Below you will find a list of all the RX8 colors that where listed on the Mazda site. Yes I know I missed yellow (I should keep my mouth shut, shouldn't I?) I'll add that later. Also, keep in mind, this image will change LOTS as you provide feedback. This is just a basic set of examples.

Honestly setting up the image above took longer then I thought! All of the images you see up there I had to color modify by hand.

Please submit your suggestions here. I look forward to advancing this concept even further! (If anyone wants to submit layout or quick sketches PLEASE do so!)

Cheers!

************************************************** ***********
Some exterior places that doesn't impede visibility would include:
- The driver side rear passenger window (who looks out of that window anyway?)
- The area immediately behind the rear view mirror, since it already blocks 20% of the windshield.
- The lower right hand corner (passenger side) windshield area might be good.
- The upper center area of the rear window (the blacked out area) - I'll get a better picture later.

Talking Business card

Holy COW THAT TURNED OUT SO much BETTER then I thought!!!

The words in the right column (under my name... ARE real JAPANESE words spelling my name!!)

The top right one says "mazda" and the other three words.... do I really need to tel you?

This was just a freebie idea, like "Oh what if we wanted to get a business card" and look now I'm actually thinking "****! this is cool! I friggen want my own card"

Did you notice the red centre? like a Japanese flag? but then it has a maple leaf and a red bar on the right side... like a CANADIAN flag!? OH I'm GEEKING OUT!!! hahaha

Looks really good but see my reply below, I still think moving the text to the bottom would make it look a lot better.

"I really like 5D3, however try moving the whole text block to just below the Rotor/Maple leaf picture such that the stem of the maple leaf just sort of comes between the 'BC' and 'RX' text, without any of the text overlapping onto the maple leaf. Also the "B" in BC, should really look like a "B" and not an "a". Several of my friends that are not rotory guy looked at the ideas and thought that is said 'AC RX-8'. After taking a second look, i see where the confusion could come from. Just sme constructive feedback."

Hi Tim,

Here are the things we chatted about.
1. Shrink Maple leaf so that it fits within the rotor center, with stem just coming through break in circle.
2. Move text to below picture graphic.
3. Close the "B".
4. Go with solid white for "BC RX-8" , and solid black for "Vancover".

I think that pretty much covers it.
Have fun at the drivers course.

I disagree, I think the maple leaf being larger than the rotor looks more stylish. My personal preference on where I would place it would be above the topmost strake, there is an almost triangular area there, as long as the decal is not too big, and it wont hinder any vision.
only thought then would be if you have 2, with the angle of the leaf/rotor being mirrored, so it will have the same flow.
just some thoughts

For the Vinyls, since we are closing in on getting this printed out. (Will talk to members regarding their connections soon)

We plan on producing two sets of Vinyls, (one left orientated an one right orientated)
Each set of vinyls will be a cluster of 5 different sized logos, this gives us a chance to decide as individuals how big and where we want our logos on our car.

With the first run of tests, we'll probably start with 10 sizes, try them out and reduce the number choices to the "best 5" sizes.

Also, I'd like to try out some of those metallic vinyl features for the rotary component of the logo (Probably look even better)

Alright, on that note, once I receive your final reviews (everyone) I'll present to our current club committee to confirm the next phase (Actual test cases)

Discussion 5 will have real pictures of the logo applied to the car.

Hi Tim,

The Business Car in My Opinion is a 100% Winner, I love it !

On the Helmet, Lose the "vancouver" it will allow the "BC rx8" to be more centered on the logo, like in the Business Card.
I'd Still like to see this version with the Text moved to the bottom. I agree with Dan's suggestion.
Otherwise, Order me up a get of Business cards already !
I'll get some Vinyl samples as soon as we settle on the final version. BBQ meet would be a good time to vote.

We're getting near the point of no return folks. That point is when we spend cash as a group buying 12 dozen vinyls.

So let's be extra extra certain, that no step was missed, or passed through to quickly.

Let me know if anyone has questions or concerns or comments, believe me better you to say something now, then 2 years from now when you finally admit the logo should have been tested in blue.

Is everyone satisfied so far, with the steps and examples produced?

If so, please do say something soon!

Thanks

PS: I love our logo.
