i really like the cai intake design from aem/mazdaspeed, you hear it very pronounced past 4 K, its nice, that it lets you hear it when you need it, like when you step on it, when crusiign at 2-3 K, its not too noticeable, which I like since it would get annoying hearing when just crusing, especially if you being to add a midpipe and or catback. There thats one good youtube video of the blue 8, where you hear the guy reviing its pretty much like that, sucks that vid has the fan going in it too. But ya, when I got my CAI intake, I really liked it. Where are you located?
Fantastic. I already have an awesome intake... and I'd consider switching too after hearing this one.

I just stuck a Borla exhaust on my RX8, and have been considering the Revi, but my dealer's parts dude offered my a Mazda speed intake for $300.00 plus installation. When you think about it, the price is good, y'all say it sounds good and isn't intrusive. does it do anything usefu, bsides make noise. I already have an expensive noise maker. I wonder how the would sonund togethe??

I installed the AEM CAI in my 2004 8 a couple of weeks ago. It's running on stock exhaust.
At idle, you can't really tell it's there from inside the car with windows up or down. At low RPM you get a nice deep rumble as you accelerate and progress to a louder sound that stays pretty consistent as a deep rumble.
At faster highways speeds, it can sometimes sound a bit too much like a BUZZ (my wife makes fun of me for it) that can be a bit annoying. If you gun it, you definitely hear the 8 open up and the BUZZ is louder and more distinct. Once you lay off the throttle and drive it at around 70 MPH, it returns to the deep-almost muffled-rumble.
Overall, not a bad CAI. If I could do it all over again, I probably would avoid the AEM since it makes me feel like I'm still in high school (ah the stories my '90 Integra could tell...).

I have the Umnitza CF intake, it sounds bad ***....
and its CF yo!
But to be honest, the only one out of the bunch that you actually gain anything from is the RB with the Revi Duct. But those 2 together your looking at close to 500 new! Alot of people swear by them.

I have the MS CAI and am thinking of either going back to OEM or going with RB's unit. I was originally happy with the MS CAI but after having the lightweight flywheel and clutch installed, I'm now much more frequently above 4k RPM and the sound of the CAI is now kind bugging me/ bit too loud too often.
So I may put it up for sale soon.
