Block heaters in stock.....

Those owners (un)lucky enough to be in the Edmonton area can now get the oil pan type heaters installed.

Sherwood Park Mazda has them on the shelf, they are not installed 'stock' because they are not a Mazda item, but they do have 'em. (ask for Kevin in Parts.)

They are the under-pan type, and are about as good as you can get for the '8.
The heater for the RX-7 doesn't fit, there is a motormount in the way, and the circulators tend to burn out when the heater valve goes shut.

I have this kind, bought it from the 'states, and drove all through last winter, makes warm-up fast and toasty!

How much do they cost?
How easy is it to install?
Shouldn't Mazda have put this standard on all Canadian RX-8's?

Questions....

I researched, sized, imported and installed my own, last year.
I always take it for service to Park Mazda.
Now they are the only dealer to sell the same type of heater,
- coincidence?
I think not.

I don't know how much they charge,
I am sure Kevin can answer all those questions.

FYI - Starting Tuesday (16th) Princess Auto has some magnetic stick on heaters going on sale at about a third off for $26.99. That would do in a pinch or as insurance, my 8 is nearing total hibernation state but thought I would pass on the word . . .
