Boomerang Security (for those in ON, QC and BC)

Does anyone have an opinion regarding this company? They had a booth at the Toronto AutoShow.... their dealers install a "black box" that's totally hidden in your vehicle and provides you with a key fob. If you car is stolen, it can be tracked down, etc...
As far as I know, its only available in ON, QC and BC. Supposedly, insurance companies have made it a pre-req for new cars (from certain mfgs) in QC --otherwise, they wont insure you.
Any alternatives? Any input with their track record? Are most of my fellow canucks getting some additional security goodies? I was also curious if your Insurance Rates will be affected (for the better, of course) -- I'm with State Farm...
I'd be interested in getting your input.... thanks

I also checked out the Boomerang2 at the Toronto Auto Show and put down a $50.00 deposit to hold the show special $499.00 (installed) offer. This price was typically $50.00 to $100.00 less expensive from what the other dealers quoted.
Even though the RX-8 has a factory installed security system and an engine immobilizer, I thought that it was still worth the additional cost. Your typical security system that makes a lot of noise and flash your lights are pretty useless IMHO; nobody pays any attention to them these days.
I particularly like the idea that they are monitoring the car 7/24 and that they will begin tracking the car immediately once the silent alarm is activated.

My only problem with these devices is that they can be easily defeated. Most of them use cell phone technology (including Boomerang), and most of us know how easy it is to block the signals. Heck, they now sell little black boxes that are specifically made to block the signals. This kind of technology is really good at catching the local idiots but then, a simple engine immobilizer with a little flashing red light on the dash will be just likely as effective (IMHO), they will see it and move on. If a pro wants your car, he will take it. Period end of story, regardless of the security system it may have.
My current car is the infamous Acura Integra, the most stolen car in NA. I checked Boomerang and their competitors when I bought my teg in '99 after seeing them on Venture (I think). My insurance broker told me that I would save almost as much with a simple engine immobilizer ($30) and a little flashing red light (noise maker and light show optional). I should ask him again if it is still true. All I know is that my insurance will go DOWN by about $300 a year once I switch.

A guy I know has the BoomBoom in his car, and it is pretty nice. In addition to all the stuff in the brochure, it has some additional features, like automatically raising your windows if it detects rain and turning on your headlights at dusk. He's been really happy with it.
It cost him $800 installed though, so maybe he got some additional features?
