Bulbs are going...going...

...and just about gone in one of the headlamps (daytime running light that is). I was wondering if anyone has installed xenon bulbs or LED bulbs, not to mention how much they cost.

hobbes,

I think Darkbrew should chime in on this. He recently changed his highbeam bulbs for something a bit more white.

Yeah, I bought some MTEC bulbs (H11 and H9) on Ebay from auto-perfect
They're in the 4350K to 4700K colour temp range and are a good match to the HIDs which are 4500K

i bought those same bulbs match near perfect to the HID's. just to bad they put out considerably less light than normal bulbs. I'm sure its not a big deal to people that live in the city but i live in the country and had to change the bulbs back in less than a week. i need all the light i can get.

Yeah, that's the thing with bulbs that have a tinted shell. They never give out the proper amount of light. You're basically trying to fool the halogen into thinking it's HID.

Which is why it's best to stay with the stock bulbs until they're burnt out. Despite how awful the yellow hue looks, it's better than having less light and slightly white colour. lol

Interesting info. Yeah, the more light the better indeed.

So what the consensus so far is that one should just stay with the stock bulbs for the running day lights?

Zombie brain slowing thought process, lol. Oldest daughter had diarreah for the last week and half. Fun times.

not so much stock bulbs just anything with out tint on them. but feel free to use pretty coloured bulbs for the fog lights since they're useless anyways.

how about LEDs in the DRL? What happens when you use the highbeam (since DRL and highbeam are the same bulb)? Does anyone know if the LEDs would work at a lower intensity in DRL mode and higher intensity in highbeam mode...or would there be no difference?

The problem is caused by the faulty DRL module, not the halogen bulb. Before you mess with the headlights, try to get the dealership to replace the DRL module under warranty. Once you f-ck with the halogen headlights, they will blame the problem on you.
