Buying in next month... couple questions though...
Hey all, just test drove an RX-8. Wow but then I am definitely talking to the converted. As fellow Canucks, I wonder what you think about its winter performance? It would be my main car and I'm a little concerned about the low clearance rust, whatever...
Also, considering both new (probably an 06) or used (an 05). Any thoughts? There are still a few 06 models out there and I'm wondering if the price might still be coming down? The full sports package (cold air, 18" tires, etc.) seems to be around 33k plus shipping, taxes, etc. You think there will be any additional movement with the new models coming in?

As long as the roads are shovelled the 8 drives pretty well with snow tires on.
There are many threads that discuss winter driving. Do a search and read up on those and im sure your concerns will be addressed.
And as DarkBrew would say, add your location

Just passed my 1st winter with the car. 4 Bridgestone Blizzaks on 4 17-inch steel rims and the car was pretty good in snow and on ice. One drawback is the low ground clearance. A few times, I was plowing snow.

I drive 160km a day from Stouffville to Mississauga all winter. I run 17's with 225 Dunlop Wintersport M3's. No problems for me, even in deep snow. Just plan ahead and keep your momentum up.
I Rust Check my car and so far no rust issues after 2 winters.

I just went through my first winter too, and as long as we outfit our 'girls' with winter boots they seem to be just fine.
I actually had a blast in mine, it handled very well, and I had better traction than most cars out there.. deep snow was an issue until I was brave enough to work the DSC button a little, then I was okay. Only issue I had was cornering (merging) on ice, even at slow speeds I slid around a bit, more than likely my error, not the car.
Snuggle into those heated seats and go!
