He sent me the UVIP today, he went to get it this morning. ANd yes there is a lien on it but i have letter from his bank to confirm that it got released. I tried calling her today but it was on an answering machine.

Now, if i am unable to contact the signer. Ill try tomorow the whole day to get in contact with her. But if i am unable to confirm that the loan was paid off, should i still buy the car? WHat if i buy the car and the loan was not paid off, is there anything that can be done to get justice?

About the insurance, i will be going to get that checked out tomorow or friday. If they cant supply me with a temporary insurance sort of thing. What i might do is go check out the car on saturday (because the insurance company is closed on sunday) and if i buy it, ill call them on the spot in hamilton to get insurance. Is this a good idea? If they can supply me with some kind of temporary insuance then ill go sunday.

If you cannot get in touch with the person from the bank on Friday ... go check the car out anyway. If you are interested still, tell the guy up front that now you are waiting for a call to confirm the document. He will just have to be patient. Don't let him talk you into buying until you know ... business is business and there is nothing personal about this.

Once you know ... call the guy and tell him you will take it. Call your insurance company and send the document too them a they will need the proof as the lien will not show as closed on their system (by the sounds of it) as this will save a step later when you are calling to insure. Then arrange again to meet and buy it. Once there contact your insurance company and have it insured. Make sure you know there business hours! As for plates ... when I did this I took the plates off my other car and used them. Pay the man. Keep all the documents handy incase you get pulled over. Should be ok. Good luck!

Sorry channge of plans once again ! I was thinking of going to hamilton, buying it, calling the insurance company but i dont have extra plates. SO i suggested he meet me tomorrow morning in toronto (since he has to come to work anyway) and then let me check out the car. If i buy it, have him drop it off at my house then i drop him off at his work n then he hasto arrange a ride home. I offered to do this either tomorow or even saturday, but he refused.

So as of now, im meeting him saturday cause ill have the whole day. Meet with him and decide whether to buy. If i buy, then tell him to take the car to a local MTO so i can register it and then drop him off. Then ill calll my insurance company on the spot. This is the best way i believe. I was a bit scared neither the insurance company or mto would be closed saturday but i checked and they are both open. This way is alot better cause he wont have to arrange for a drive home from toronto and ill have a nice little trip with my new car.

So wish me luck !!!

OH BTW !! I did get in contact with the lady and she said he paid off the loan. She also said she personally knows the guy, which worried me a bit but illl trust them.

THanks!

Take your ownership for the plates and the insurance slip, as the policy number will be the same and if you get pulled over he will find that the 8 is insured under that policy.

Great news about the lien!! Glad you took that step!

I phoned the insurance company and got permission to use those plates with the car. This is according to my wife who never forgets anything ... NEVER FORGETS ANYTHING!!!!

Call your insurance company tomorrow and get the information from them to ensure you understand it properly.

I bought that other car from a cop ... and believe me ... he was checking me out (Oh Stop!!! ... didn't mean it that way!) as he took everything down from my license and insurance when we were signing over the car and I was producing payment. I was legit! (at least at that time lol )

Call your insurance company!

It is not illegal when:

you bring your plates and registration for those plates to the MTO (they'll register it properly to your new 8).

Also, the insurance company should provide you a print out of your temporary license... or at least your sort of documentation. In the end as long as the 8 is recorded under you insurance which can be brought up from the insurance policy you're pretty much okay. But like I said you should have some sort of paper work your insurance company can fax to you; heck even fax it to the MTO you're registering the car and plates to!

ps. for your future 8 if everything works out!

actually you do not need any documentation, as long as the insurance policy exists, you are fine to drive your car withoutt having the paper, if pulled over the cop has to give you 48 hours to present a document that proves you have insurance, then get that and bring it to a police station. when it comes to your plates, just bring the ownership and get a 10 day permit

I did say you don't need any documentation.

But you can just ask the insurance company to fax you something, it's ONLY 6 more words on the phone. Why cause more issues with the police for a piece of paper? If they pull you over.... I'm pretty sure it's for something illegal... why add more negative connotations against yourself with no insurance proof? My insurance company always does it for me and gives you a peace of mind.

my 2.2 cents

No problem bro, I wasn't asking for an apology =.=

It's just when I give advice, I try to follow the motto "better save than sorry". Spell out all the information and let the person decide what to follow.

No hard feelings... I like the look of your 8; clean look.

So ifi understand correctly. My plan of going to hamilton, checking out the car, buying it, caling the insurance, then register it there in hamilton will not work correct? Cause i would need some kind of paper from my insurance company to register it.

So in this case, is the best and safest way to use the plates of my car staying home and telling my insurance company (tomorrow) im using it for my 8 and get a slip. Then just come back to toronto and then register it ? Would i be able to register my 8 for new plates in hamilton with the temporary plates of my other vehicle ?

If you DESPERATELY want the vehicle right away here's what you do, but please take note I will never buy a car the first time I see it unless it's some bad *** limited edition mint condition vehicle and I have money to burn.

Go to the MTO. Register the 8 to your name (you have 6 days), have insurance policy # ready (assuming the insurance company has all your information), register plates / get new plates, pay for validation sticker / temporary sticker depending if you have safety and/or etest (odd model year rx8). Side note: I don't see why you don't have safety since the dude's a tech., Pay for Taxes and lastyl Vehicle Package as I believe you never mentioned the seller has bought it (you should make him buy it) it's $20.

If I miss anything, honestly tough. Cause you obviously haven't put in the effort to figure out how to buy an used vehicle. I linked you the website with all the information but you obviously had put no effort in reading it. SERIOUSLY READ THE WEB PAGE. I linked it ONCE for you already. I have answered extensively in your thread, with multiple post.... I don't see why you can't spend time reading the MTO website.

LoL damn it part of my post got cut off! Paraphrased below:

Plates have NOTHING to do with Insurance company... you have to go to the MTO NO MATTER WHAT!!! Either to register your OLD plates or get NEW plates (you can get it right away). You can't have two cars register on a set of NORMAL plates!!!!!

Okay this is stressing me out before I sleep lol peace out!

oh and of course.. just for good measure:
