Thumbs down Calgary - Did you rear end someone?

So I check out a local web site sometime called beyond.ca. ( you think people get nasty here sometimes )

anyway, there is this thread were a guy describes how an RX8 with a front kit was tailgating him so he purposely hit his brakes and caused an accident. The guy even claimed to have a sore neck. If this happened to you, if should be easy to track this a-hole down.

Here is a quote:

"see this is why i have my piece of **** that i don't care about. There was this little shiet behind be in his RX8... and i mean a nice RX8, body kit, all the works. This guy was like a foot behind me down center street at around 55km/h. This wasnt too smart of me but i said, what the hell, im in the beater so i slammed on the brakes. TOTALED his front end... i mean demolished it, while i had maybe a bit of damage lol. He got out of his car like it was my fault (well it was) but to the police, it was his He kinda got his panties in a bunch when i said my neck was sore and i may have gotten whiplash too the guy... but i figured i wouldn't cause of his car.

Just goes to show that i don't take **** from anyone."

If this happened to you, let me know and I'll see what I can dg up on this guy.

The guy shouldn't have been tailgating, but man, what a giant douche. I like how he tries to sound tough yet claims to fake whiplash.

He's basically admitted he deliberately caused an accident. If this gets to the right lawyer for the 8 owner, this jack *** could easily go to jail.

Tailgating is wrong, but causing an accident just because you're driving a peice of crap is terrible. Hope this clown gets busted.

That guy is a bastard. Almost like one of those asses that actively seek out to file personal injury claims (ie Oh no! I spilled coffee on my lap ... give me 5 million dollars).

Hey guys:

Well, for everyone not familiar with the new law in Alberta, here's the 411:

The province mandated a cap of $4000 on miscellaneous "Pain and Suffering" injuries last year. So if you're in a crash, all your costs, medical, repairs etc. etc. are paid, but if you sue the guy who hit you, you can only receive a maximum of $4,000 in pain and suffering (ie. soft tissue injuries, which whiplash is one of).

This new law put many law firms out of business overnight (not that THAT'S a bad thing...). My Dad is a lawyer and knows a lot of these guys. They (the lawyers) are sad because they can't settle 5 accident suits anymore and take the rest of the year off. They have to work for their money now (God forbid!).

I agree this guy is a royal ***, and I might even go so far as to turn this information into police, but everyone can take comfort that the ***** can't sue for a ton of money.

If I was the guy it happened to, I'd be looking for a different kind of justice.

Alberta is starting to look better and better to me every day. Oil money, smart laws, residential development thru the roof. A+

EDIT: any chance of having your dad take a pro bono case and bust the guy who caused the accident? What an assclown of biblical proportions. I hope he dies.

Better hurry up then...

If you're looking at Alberta, and especially Calgary, you'd better hurry up and make up your mind.

Housing prices are going up an estimated $500 - $1000 per day.

Yes you read that right.

I was under the assumption that the rear ender was always at fault, BUT, an RCMP officer told me about 2 guys with road rage driving down our perimeter highway in Winnipeg.
One of them pulled in front of the other and slammed on his brakes at 100km. Very stupid thing to do.
Anyway, the RCMP actually charged the guy who slammed his brakes with a whole slew of things, and he was convicted on all charges.]
I dont know the specifics, and if the guy was stupid, and admited to the police........

But it looks like this moron is dumb enough to admit that he did something stupid.

I would seriously look into this.

However, and I still think this guy is a jerk, the bottom line is that you were not following at a safe enough distance, so in effect you were breaking the law too.

Let's say the guy wasnt an ***, but simply panicked when a cat ran onto the street?

Same thing would have happened.

Oh ya, for something COMPLETELY off topic
I recall one of my dad's friends told me never to slash anyone's tires for revenge.
Of course this is illegal, and should not be encouraged, ever, by anyone.

Sure the "victim" would be inconvenienced, but in fact would come out ahead with a new set of tires, after paying his/her deductable.

He thought it would be funny to simply cut the tire valves instead.
Again this is illegal and not to be encouraged.

Cutting the valves would cause the same innconvenience as slashed tires, but the cost of a new valve, dismounting and remounting, and balancing 4 tires would amount to well under the deductable!

Remember, I am not suggesting that anyone do something that is illegal to any vehicles be they ACURA, or Dodge.
I am simply recalling old memories of one of my father's friends.

I still think tailgating is wrong (and illegal). I get quite annoyed at them really.

But I have to say that jerks tick me off more.

P.S. yellow handled tin snips (available at many hardware stores) cut through sheetmetal with ease.

They also make quick work of cutting through round, cylinder shaped rubber things.

I cant think of any examples, but I am sure you can think of something over a nice dinner.
I hear Earl's is very nice.

Ok so you guys remember the jerk that slammed on his brakes and messed up the rx8 just because the other guy was tailgating?

Well this high school punk just got PWNED hard! Karma works! Karma works! He recently got rearended while driving his girlfriend's new car. My guess was it was the rx8 guy's mom that rear ended him! Ha ha. I feel bad for the girlfriend but not the punk.

Some people have some serious issues when it comes to being behind the wheel. I've got days that I NEED to be somewhere in a hurry. Sure, it's my own fault but all you gotta do is keep going the same speed you're at and let me go around you.

No instead drivers insist on speeding up, hitting their brakes etc. which is totally not necessary.

Yeah, tailgating that close is plain retarded...if the driver (sorry to say it) valued his RX8 more he might have at least been a bit more careful. Still, I've found that tapping the brakes just enough to light up the rear tail lights is enough to have 90% of the tail gaters get the hint and back off.

Bottom line...move over into the next lane or at least keep still when I pass and everything will be just fine.
