Are you just talking about the seafoam/zoom zoom cleaner process.

At what point do you let it suck in a little clean engine oil(to act as increaseing metering pump with datalogger)

Dealership should do ALL of that TSB for you.

It's covered under warranty =)

Oh, that is good(Thank you). I guess we will see what comes of it after the compression test that they are going to do for me. They said they have already tested the cat and they just replaced the coils and i see that those are the two action items that they talk about to check first.

**EDIT**
The coils replacement that it talks about on the first page isnt under warranty right? That is just something something that should be checked and replaced first.

And at 75,000km i am eligible for this correct?

Does it matter that it is not mazda Canada?

Unfortunately the coils are under warranty as I had to pay for mine (I'm smack on 80k).. the cat is though (under the 8 year emissions thing). TSB's are more like recommended solutions to common issues. They are not considered recalls. If you have an extended war you may be covered though.. not sure how those work..

Just print out the TSB, they should do that under warranty. There should be a Canadian equivalent TSB.

Coils are only part of the bumper to bumper warranty. It may be covered under the extended warranty, but the engine cleaning and what not should e covered under the 5 year power train or 8 year rotary core warranty.

unfortunately Canada and the US don't have a 1-to1 system in terms of recalls and what not (just look at the oil line recalls we had and the US didn't).

Either way.. I guess Daemos has a point.. it's worth a shot to ask about the coils

I miss driving the 8 in the winter......but I don't miss all the hassels that come with the car. Its been 6 months with the IS and not a single problem. With the 8 I already had the engine replaced.

Well i just got my car back from getting a new engine and a whole whack of other parts. Got the upgraded starter(awesome by the way - 275 for the part), clutch, plugs, coils from before the engine died and a new cat. Beginning the break in period now and i did 200 km today because it is such a joy to drive now. Clutch is actually really light, just a bit stiffer than my friends stock 08 civic.

All seems pretty good, 800 km to go before i can start to open it up a little.

Only issue that i still have would be a slight ticking sound coming from somewhere in the engine. i think alot of other people have heard this and it sounds like ticking lifters on a piston engine. Probably get them to look at that later this week(i know the usual suspects are loose spark plug wires or a bad spark plug wire that is arching to something else.)

Anyways that is my update

Phil --> did you get the BHR coils? It's pretty easy to do if you take out your air intake, take off your front left wheel and don't mind rolling around on the garage floor (some of the spark plugs are crazy to get at --> makes you wish you can shrink to elf size)

Ya mazda replaced my engine a couple days ago.....got a whole bunch of other stuff done as well. The new clutch they put in is much lighter and easier to use than my old one. I have drove the car 360 km in the last two days because it is so nice to drive again. Still waiting until i can open it up but i am getting closer. I can already see the gas mileage is going to be much better.....last engine would get 100km on the first quarter tank if i was 100% highways and now i am at 110 with about 75highways 25traffic driving.

I am starting to think about summer tires(have to buy some). My rears are completely bald and they need to be replaced when i put my summer tires on in the coming months.

So far i think the best deal that i have seen is at Contemporary motor sports Calgary, they have lexani N3000(245 x 45 x 18 for my work rims) for about 150 to 170 a tire i think. My friend has used them for years and he says they are really good performance but they probably wont last as long as your typical high performance tire like the potenzas that come with the car.

Anyone see anything else interesting?

The best bang for the buck IMO are

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....odel=HTR+Z+III

They have gotten some very good reviews.

Other than that, I have never heard of the lexani brand, but for something really good performing for the buck the Falken Azeni RT-615 is a good bet =) Kuhmo also has new Estca XS tires out.

Usually higher performing tires wear out MUCH faster than less performing tires. Soft compounds = much gripper but have less life. Long lasting performance tires really don't exist ^_^

good to hear! hope u enjoy ur new engine!

I just got my coils, wires, plugs installed. The coils and plugs are factory replacements, and wires were aftermarket gotten from fluidmotorsport. I could feel difference as well and the engine starting noise is gone. but i noticed a little big low idle (below 780rpm) sometimes but i guess the PCM is still learning the new wires. the entire process took me and john for about 2 hours. ****! i forgot to install back the plastic clip beside the front wheel. damn, gotta do it tmr morning again.

Hey phil, so your car is all good now? no more jerking at higher rpms?
I'm having the same problem as well. Hopefully I don't have to replace the engine and everything. I'm planning to replace the coils and plugs as well, where did get yours?

So I thought I give updates on my car in case people care, haha I've been having the same issues as SpecialBlend. At first I had the misfire code too, I replaced the coils and plugs and still, when I rev the engine up to 6500 rpm or so (on neutral), the car shakes a litttle and wouldn't go up unless I step on it harder. So then I thought I try testing out the SSV and it turns out that was the problem (I think). It seems like the actuator itself is stuck closed and wouldn't open (tried vaccum testing). I tested the solenoid and it does give me some signal when I rev the car up around 6000-6500 rpm, so it looks like mechanical part of the actuator is broken. Reading the damn technical book saying if I have to replace the SSV, I have to replace the whole intake manifold... which... I have to take the whole engine out also (just great). Some of the forums mention its not necessary to do that, but who knows. Anyone know if there is any warranty on this? I guess I'll call them on monday. =(

I don't remember exactly, but I remember reading that sometimes the actuator gets stuck because of grime or build up on it. The solenoid is a tough piece of equipment, so unlikely that it'll break so easily. One solution is to physically open and close the actuator gate with your hands to loosen the debris. I think it was one of the BC guys that posted it up ... TeamRX8? Hope it helps and saves you cash.

Edit: Dude check it --> post #30 from Jon316G. Give it a go and hope it helps.

I guess the SSV is only good for 3 years warranty. I will have to open it up this weekend and fix it myself. I tried opening the gate with my hands but it seems pretty stuck solid, so I guess I will have to do that this weekend. Hopefully it can be fixed and I don't have to buy myself a new SSV. Thanks for the forum blue.

Turns out it was my SSV that caused the "lack of power" and the misfire code. Took it out and it was dirty as hell... cleaned it and the port now the car runs like new, almost forgot how fast I could rev that engine... =) Attached pics on my nasty ssv and cleaned... huge difference
