Calgary RX8 meet and cruise

So it was a great day for a meet today. Nice to see some old faces and some new guys too. SlowLude's MS kit really looks great in person. Glad you found your gf at the end.

The cruise was very scenic but too bad at first we were stuck behind 2 SLOOWWW moving semis. After that ... ZOOOMM!! I have never done so many 6-3 downshifts, not to mention 3rd gear redlines! Killer on gas but whatever.

I think we all had our fair share of heart pounding moments on the highway. Some of those passes were pretty fun to watch.

I personally had a FAST and FURIOUS moment. It was on a left hand turn that I approached a bit too fast (70kmh). Upon turning, I didn't apply enough brake during heel-toe ... so during the turn I was going about 65kmh. Needless to say, the backend started to slip and the tires were screeching! Had to overcorrect (almost into oncoming traffic). I thank Yoda (also snow driving and playing Gran Turismo) for letting me recover quickly. Oh the DSC was going nuts! Kinda stupid on my part but sure was fun.

So here are some pics. I'm glad that most of them turned out nicely. Mind you I didn't have time to set the exposure and all that fun stuff because we were driving 120kmh and only had one hand available.

When we got to Elbow Falls, Rotten managed to drive his car up the falls and into a cave. Can't wait to see that pic.

Oh and in the group shot from left to right ... it's Canadian 8, SlowLude, myself, KHTM, Admiral 8 and Rotten42.

Rotten, I was naming off the members in the pic on the rocks!

What are you talking about man ... my moment was so Fast and the Furious ... when they wiped out that is!

I dunno man, for the first 20 minutes of the trip on highway 8 ... I recall sitting in the one lane highway putting away at 70kmh behind the long convoy of semis ... you included!

Slowlude ... that rearward pic through the spoiler is great! I sure hope that your girlfriend took that pic, otherwise I'd be scared to drive behind you! Hmmm ... maybe along with the MS kit, he got one of those Japanese autopilot ECU upgrades!

Maybe it happened when you did that warp-speed pass in that merge lane?

(typing corrected so that I don't get responses like below)

What's "wrap-speed"? Is that like when you wrap your car around a telephone pole while speeding?

I was just wondering if you can still pick up your car? you may want to check, with the suspension of delivery of RX8's you may not be able to... PS that doesn't mean that they have suspended the sales... only delivery. I would check before travelling.
