Canadian Brochures Are Here!!!
Wow!
Was sitting in the dealership today and got handed the new RX8 brochure! It is really nice!
Looks like NO auto climate control, NO rear fog light, but yes headlight pissers.
This brochure is sweet, 13 pages or so, all glossy and nice, so get to your dealer to get one: if they have one! They may not yet, 'cause, ya know, my dealer is the best...

73JPS beat me to it...
Well girls & boys its time to run (don't walk) down to your friendly Mazda dealership and pickup the new 14 page (not 13)
RX-8 brochure, get them while they last. There is really nothing new inside in this hansom brochure but it does make a lovely keepsake.
Like I said earlier there is really nothing new to anyone here that attends this site on a regular basis but it does clarify a couple of things that are specific to the Canadian model.
First, there is no automatic climate control. The centre console picture shows a GT model and it is clear that there are traditional air conditioning controls
, this photo finally puts this topic to rest.
Second, the curb weight (kilos/lbs) is listed as 1,384/3,051 and 1,394/3,073 for the 6 speed manual and automatic transmissions respectively. I know that there are several forum members here that will not be pleased to here this, but personally I have no problems with the weight. I believe that lighter is always better but I am not too disappointed with the published weight.
Lastly, there are 15 accessories that are available, items marked with an "*" are shown in a picture:
Front air dam
Side deflector
Rear spoiler *
18" aluminum alloy wheels (polished) *
Mud guards, front
Mud guards, rear *
Scuff plates, aluminum
All-weather floor mats
Aluminum fuel-filler door (chrome)
Cargo tray
Cargo net
Moonroof wind deflector *
Block heater
Front mask *
Wheel locks
The rotary accent kit is not listed it print however it is shown in the picture of the RX-8 next to the list of accessories along with the polished alloy wheels - sweet.
I highly recommend that you go and pickup your copy now!
P.S. I do not have a scanner, however 73JPS does - hint.

thanks guys for the info. For sure I'll go and pick one up ASAP.
By the aluminum Scuff plates, aren't they supposed to be standard ?? Or is it just the US model ???
Also, the Spoiler, is it the next big curvey one or the lip spoiler ...
yea..... I can't wait till have a chance to go to the Dealership.

"scuff plates with aluminum inserts": standard. I guess the accessory is fully aluminum scuff plates.
The rear spoiler looks like the same one as posted on the thread about the first ever RX8 owner's meeting, on the titanium grey one...

Do we get HIDs?
Can we get?
-moon roof
-navigation system?
If Hids and NAV are not available I will not be getting the car.
Well I might be able to live without hids. But I want the NAV system.

Yes, every Canadian RX-8 has HIDs. The only two factory options (aside from the choice of GS or GT package) are moonroof, or moonroof+Navigation system.

I had read in a few places that HID's were not a for sure thing ( No HIDS for the Canadian STi :-( )
also NAV system seem not an option for canaidan cars allot of times.
so if we get both im a happy man.

Why would a dealer that is only selling 5 cars this year have a blue spoiler to install? Maybe I can order the spoiler now and have it in time for the arrival of the car. If not, then added on when they get it.

Ugh. Why can't Mazda just get a brochure system hooked up on the internet, like every other car manufacturer.
Seriously, Audi and Mazda are the only major car companies to not have brochures available via internet. Hell even Jaquar does it. And we all know how much Jaquar sucks.

Got my RX-8 brochure in the mail yesterday. Typical Mazda brochure layout, but quite colorful. Definitely doesn't sound as glossy as the US offering though (brochure can be read in two directions). Here's a few observations:
1) Passenger packaging comparsion was made to a Porsche 911. Never mentioned it was a Porsche, but engine outline and body outline are definitely a 911. Can you say subliminal sporting intentions?
2) The muffler seems really restrictive with exhaust pipes coming out of each end of a transversely mounted muffler. Two independant straight through muffler cannisters could be more ideal. Also, the precat seems to be embedded into the log style header - more power can be uncorked through proper equal length setup. Note, I'm not an excessive power freak, had an FD for that, but if I can get 20-30 more hp *and* better responsiveness/mileage/reliability (through less back pressure), I'm all for it.
3) Cdn mileage when converted to US is a little higher than the EPA/US posted of 18/24. Don't have the exact numbers at home but I recall the auto getting 27-28 MPG highway and the standard ~1MPG less.
4) No mention of auto climate control, and looking at the dash there's a fan icon, then 0 to 4 settings.
5) Difference to US models. Black cloth instead of of gray cloth (black is much better IMO), standard foglights, Bose, and heated mirrors.
6) I was going to get a red 6 speed GS, but for 3K more you get red leather (I previously wasn't a fan of any red interior, but the brochure makes it look *really* nice and not excessive - especially with a red exterior), power driver seat, Traction and Skid control, HIDs, dimming rear view mirrior with Home link, heated seats, and anti-theft system. Relatively speaking, that's quite a deal!
7) No mention of the brand and season rating of the tires yet. Are the tires a run-flat model as I see no reference to a spare tire.
8) Xenons, no mention of bi-Xenons as typical manufactuers do, does that mean only Xenon for low-beam?
9) I'm assuming there's a DSC/TCS switch (can't see one on the dash)? One thing I found on the a Mazda6 test drive was that the TSC was quite intrusive.
God, what a gorgeous car! I keep trying to not be impulsive and realise the relative lack of practical benefits/downsides for my needs (shitty mileage, no place to store my mountain bike). This will be my commuting year-round vehicle afterall. But it's everything I want in a car, safety, performance, 4 seats and beautiful inside and out. Honestly, I really miss the days when I looked forward to having to go to the corner store in my FD (even at legal speeds). I think the RX-8 can bring that emotion back.
