Canadian TSB's
My service manager told me not to believe everything I read on the internet (actually good advice), and added that Canada has different vehicles than the US and thus different TSB's. Just because I see a tsb on the web it doesnt always apply to the Canadian models.
They all seem to be from Mazda Northamerican operations so that would make them applicable to Canada as long as your vehicle is listed (i.e vin range etc).
Is he feeding me a line?
An RX* with 18' wheels that has brake squeal (me ) would be covered by the tsb Canadian or US.
How have your Canadian dealers responded when shown TSB's off of the RX* club?
I dont really trust dealers. My sales guy told me the dealership lost money when they did business with me! :D

I think it depends on the dealer, I believe Mazda Canada takes longer to adopt some of the TSBs from Mazda NA.
However as for the vehicles being different? I think that's a load of BS, the differences are mostly cosmetic .. 18" wheels, headlight washers, etc...
Other than that the cars are identical, but perhaps more knowledgeable folks have more info on that? (since I haven't even got mine yet )
There are a couple of threads on this topic here:

And on the brake pads themselves:

Canadian Operations are different......but the issues apply. Doesn't mean that they don't trickle down here sooner or later.......we usually know more from being on here than the dealers get from Mazda Canada. My dealer grudgingly reads the TSB's from MNA from the States....and quit arguing with me after a while.

So then do you get the work done with the Northamerican tsb's, or do you have to wait until it comes out "officially " in Canada?

Hey, the cars are all made in the same factory. Any issues that warant a TSB from Mazda in the US is going to be an issue here - maybe except for daytime running lights :D

So what do you do then if you show him the tsb, and they will not do anything because they havent received official word from maz can?

Just take the attitude of, "Look, here's the TSB on this exact problem. It tells you how to fix the problem. Now if you don't want to follow the directions of how to fix the problem, that's your prerogative, but I still need the problem fixed, because at the end of the day, IT'S STILL A PROBLEM!"

Yeah, I'm irked about the squeeky brakes too. Especially when they told me that they couldn't reproduce the problem when all they do is make noise.
In one way the longer they wait to action the tsb the longer I don't have to pay for brake pads.
In my opinion, car dealers will always try to pull a fast one for a quick buck.

TSBs
I just had my front rotors turned and brake pads replaced under warranty. There is a TSB in Canada regarding front brake squeal...just make sure you report it to the dealer before you hit 20,000 km, otherwise it's unlikely they will cover it under warranty.
This forum is a great opportunity for owners to share information about our cars...the only problem is that we have access to information so much quicker than dealers or even Mazda Canada!! The dealers can not be re-imbursed for warranty repair unless it has been authorized by MCI - so unless there is a Mazda Canada TSB they probably can't charge the repair as warranty. I would suggest that Mazda Canada needs to start monitoring the forums and reacting to tech issues in a more timely fashion - and do a better job of stocking/supplying parts (I could go on for hours on this issue!).
Mazda make terrific cars...but as a whole, they come up short on after sale service.

Steveo67, where did you get the specifics on the Canadian tsb? More specifically about the 20,000 km. I reported the problem when I had about 18,000 but now have close to 22,000.

Mazda definitly falls short in the service department, however I have had excellent response and service when calling Mazda Canada Directly: 1 (800) 263-4680
They are usually fair, direct and have no problem contacting the dealership of your choice to 'help' them come to the right conclusion.
Cheers

The manual states that tires, wiper blades etc. are covered for 20,000 km. So long as you reported the problem before 20k then you should be covered - that's what I did...I called the dealership and had them open a work order at 18,500 km and then waited for my next scheduled service appointment (about 3000 km later).
Good luck.

Well I phoned performance mazda this morning about it and they were unaware of any tsb's concerning the breaks. The person on the phone told me that as long as I had mentioned the problem before, the tsb would cover it regardless of the mileage.
I have a sneaking suspicion that when the tsb does eventually come out I'll be told that they since they weren't able to reproduce the problem when I had initially reported it, that I cannot get it repaired now that the car has over 20k.
I agree with funksoulbrother about mazda's service being crappy. I'll try the 1-800 number.
