Can't wait for 3 Fast 3 Furious!
As if off the line racing wasn't enough, now there's this nonsense. Last one alive meets me for bubble tea! From the Toronto Sun:
A 21-year-old Toronto man is on life support in hospital after the car he was riding in crashed into a utility pole as the driver apparently attempted a "drifting" manoeuvre yesterday.
Det. Wally Watts of the Toronto Police traffic unit alleged alcohol and high speed once again played a potentially deadly combination leading to the Mitsuibshi Lancer crashing into the pole at Lawrence Ave. and Kennedy Rd. before 6 a.m.
PASSENGER HARDEST HIT
A backseat passenger, a 24-year-old Michigan man visiting family, suffered a broken jaw, while the driver broke an arm.
The passenger sitting up front took the brunt of the impact. The next 24 hours will be crucial in determining if he will survive, Watts said.
Witnesses told police the car was speeding south on Kennedy Rd. Watts said the driver tried to turn onto Lawrence Ave. using a racing technique known as drifting, in which the back end slides out while continuing to move forward.
'PLOWING IN STRAIGHT LINE'
"And it didn't work," Watts alleged. "He's just plowing in a straight line" into the pole.
Asantha Jayasinghe, 22, of Toronto, is charged with two counts each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm and impaired operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm and one count of driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
He is to appear in Scarborough court today.

I don't get how blaming a movie on some idiots driving is a viable argument?
The kid who was drifting was an idiot it is obvious its like blaming GTA for stealing someones car, I think people are idiots and when they **** up they just need someone or something to blame because they aren't man enough to own up to thier own consequences.

You can't drift in a front wheel drive car............ It was someone likely just driving out of control.
You can always depend on the media to try to blame it on something it isn't.

Persmitt... you can get the tail to slide out in any car in certain situations.... controlling and holding it is a different story.
I believe the whole street racing fantasy that the media has created has gotten totally out of hand. The media has blown it to epic proportions when street racing was bigger in Toronto really 4-5 years ago. Granted, there are things that happen that I cannot deny. But I do think there is a difference between organized street racing and simply reckless driving.
I see reckless drivers everyday. If someone saw a Buick Grand National go into an intersection at high speeds and ram into a pole, it would be reckless driving. If it's a Mitsubishi, it's drifting.
