I like to upgrade my cars in intersections! So I have had to deal with the odd claim. Most of the time it was someone else's fault, but a couple of times ... mine! I have no idea how much I pay ... the wife looks after it. I have 4 cars ... two of them are sports cars ... ok ... I'm not an old fart, but I am older ... really I am 'immature' beyond my years!!

When looking for insurance ... the lowest price is not always the best price. If you need to claim, and you need the money fast ... you need a good insurance company. Cheaper often means hassles with claiming!!! Get the best price you can ... but check out the rep they have by researching online or talking with others!!! I am with State Farm by the way ... they are treating me well with my house claim after a fire a month ago too!! (sux)!

No that's not insurance...that's roadside coverage.
CAA also offers insurance but that letter you received is for things like towing, changing your flat, etc...

Best bet is to call a few brokers and find the best price and coverage that suits you.
+1

My insurance is less than $200/mo. i called for a quote in tacoma (huge city/area by seattle, wa) and was quoted $700. thought it was a decent price til she said PER MONTH. i couldnt believe it. i dont have a BAD driving record...i am insurable for driving at work.

Like everyone else has said, $500 seems excessive for any driver.

To answer your question though, 10%.
That's how much your insurance is likely to go down once you have graduated to your 'G'.

450 is still quite ridiculous.

Wow. 500 is outrageous. If that's not theft, I don't know what is.
I thought I paid a lot for full coverage at $1020 per year.

I don't know what you guys are talking about.
$500 sounds about right depending on where the OP lives.
Being a young inexperienced driver with only a G2 while being the primary driver on an RX8 - that screams high risk to me.

Except for the fact that most insurance agencies view the RX8 as a low displacement 4 door "family car"

sorry that's not how it works. Most companies are now on what's known as CLEAR. They assign rate groups for the car you drive based on historical costs for that vehicle as well as similar/competitor vehicles. It's actually rated similar to the G35 coupe - regardless of the fact that it has "4 doors".

yea it's a common misconception. I'd look up what the rate group is for the rx8 and its competitors but im too lazy. I did it a while back and remembered that it was similar to the G35 and Civic Si...
