check engine light flashed and car was smoking...help

hey guys new user here.. my 8 has about 50km on it just turned..i didnt do the oil change on time because i didnt get time to and i was driving back from work ..i decided to redline it and the check engine light started flashing. it was driving ok tho. the next morning when i started the car it started smoking i thought it was nothing just something from the night before and itll go away. when i started my car to come back home from work it had a huge cloud of smoke coming out of both exuasts. i got home but barely the light started flashing again and car started to lose power. i barely made it up this hill i go up to get home. i towed the car to my dads mechanic and it runs fine now. he told he didnt go much just let it run for about and hour. and he also changed the oil when i got there. but it was running fine before he changed the oil. when me and my dad popped the hood at home before we took it to the mechanic i saw some oil spilled in rite underneath the battery cover. i have an appointment with mazda tomorowo for a service(even though i just got an oil change done) has anyone ever had this problem and if so do u know what it is. ive never had a car that smoked like that i got really scared..thanks guys..

LOL from what i read, THIS CAR IS NOT FOR YOU.
Rotary engines need a lot more attention then their piston counterparts. You caused your own grave.
probably, misfired. have you had your plugs changed yet?
NOTE: misfiring= likely blown seals. have you heard some funny noise?

Ah, be careful of what you're talking about.

Seriously all you wrote there is a heap of horse dung.

The car doesn't need more maintenance than a piston car, except that you check the oil level every two fill ups. Note the check, not always fill up. Also if you forget to fill up a nice red light will come up on the dash before there is any danger.

To the original poster: It is not your fault what happened. terrypk1 apparently just likes to pretend he knows something.

oil under the battery cover?????? you would see oil everywhere if it were under the battery cover. If you oil overflow line is properly connected and there is no obvious leak now and the car is running fine then you DO NOT have a blown seal. Possibly your oil filter was loose and was leaking oil into the engine bay, causing the smoke you saw. The smoke out of the exhaust is probably exess fuel sitting in the engine that was pushed out on startup. The loss of power with the flashing light could indicate a cat problem with random misfires?? mazda should figure it out for you.

next time, don't forget to change your oil, very important for this vehicle.

LoL @ MisFires meaning blown Seals.... HAHAHAH

Have you changed your Coils, Wires, and Spark Plugs?

How is the cat on the car?

If you are at 50k and havent changed the Wires, Coils, and Spark Plugs now is your chance.

No wonder they cleaned it up for free
