The Cheque is in, it's going back!
Well I had Friday off so I wasn't at work to get the call, but I checked my messages today and Richard called me personally to tell me the cheque was mailed out to my dealer and that they should have it by Tuesday.
I will be returning the car this week, so long RX8 It was nice while it lasted.
I'll keep you all up to date on the happenings, hopefully they try to stiff me.....

Hi Wing,
I phoned MC today to get an idea of went I will return my car; they told me I should count 1 month from the time they received my letter (sept 30th).
When did you send your letter?
Since winter is almost here... sure hope to return my 8 before the first snow....

Me too
Got a call yesterday to say that Mazda South will have the necessary paperwork by this afternoon. Once I take the car to them, they notify Mazda that they have it and it's all in order, and Mazda overnights checks to our bank and the leasing company.
So it looks like today is my last day in an RX-8. At least, until I find myself another job.

Interesting it's done totally different in Canada. The dealer gets the cheque you take the car in and they hand you the cheque.
Then it's up to me to head to the bank and pay off my loan. The bank will then probably write me a cheque for the difference, which I'm hoping is in the $4000 range :D
EDIT: Nope $3000 just did the calculation should be around $3400, but then after interest probably closer to $3000.

It's gone or not sure.
Cost me $258 for the rim, oh well, not too bad for driving the car for as long as I did.
If I would have kept my big mouth shut I might have gotten out unscaved. I had asked Richard at Mazda Canada how that would be dealt with and he obviously forwarded it on to the dealer and they new about when I brought the car in
I can only wonder what would have happened if I wouldn't have told them, I'm sure they would not have even seen it, oh well.

Hey nice to see your still hanging around even if your not in the elite anymore
I don't know if I would have been able to give it back, its just to damn fun to drive. Bought my winter car ( 2001 focus se with zetec, now begins the task of modifying it)
yesterday, so I'm not to anxious at parking mine for the winter so I cant image giving it back.

Wing;
I saw your car on Thursday when I went to pick up the proper floor mat for my driver's side. They charged u $258 for a scratched rim..that sucks. Did you take it out for a big rip before taking it back?? they told me that 3 people were bringing back there 8's that day. Also heard you put on quite a scene...lol
Cheers

LOL Gaels, that's funny. The salesguys were joking around about your mat then when I was there, was your sales guy a young guy? I can't figure out why my sales guy couldn't get me a mat then!
Did they mean I put on a scene when I returned it or when I bought the car? Because if it was when I returned it, they must consider a scene, me walking in, giving the manager the Keys, waiting patiently at the desk, paying my bill and walking out. That's it that's all.
If they meant when I bought it then freakin' right! And if they think that was a scene they are lucky they dealt with me properly. I bet 99% of there customers don't know there that they are screwing them left/right and centre, as they try to be your "friend".
I'd never buy a car there again, and once I found out who the guy at the service desk was I wasn't very pleased, this guy was helping me at the Hyundai dealer with my Tiburon and then I guess moved onto the Mazda dealer when things got hot from my freakin' piece of junk car! I was so surprised to see him there and I'm sure he remembered me and was all "yes sir, sorry sir etc with me".
Gotta love getting that kind of respect at 25, they know not to fool with me! Foos!
I also do plan on finding out if I can contact the head of the delawri group, so I can personally tell him not to expect to ever sell me a car again. I'll drive to T.O. if I have to as he owns almost every freakin' dealer in the city!
As far as a rip, kind of, I drove the car the last tank only 300km and it was EMPTY when I returned it like 0 gas. I went around the block about 10 times in the 150km/h range zipping around hitting redline at every chance

BTW, since the lease buyout figure is good until the next payment is due at the end of next week, we've decided to hang onto it for one more weekend. We'll take it back sometime next week.

Buy out
Yeah Wing;
My guy is the young guy. Like you I'll never buy another car from any of Delawri dealerships, he is a crook. My RX8 is the 1st and last car from there. My next car is the BMW545i, which I am saving up now...should be getting it in 2006 or sooner. I do agree with your return basically u drove a new car for the price of gas and insurance for 2 months, I now wish I had done the same because I would be buying the 545i now. Oh well we live with our decisions and I'll have to live with mine. I'm sending you a PM msg.
Cheers
