Clear bra installer in Toronto
Hi, I just picked up my blue RX8 on Sept 28 and I wanted to put the 3M clear bra before the paint gets chipped. Anyone know of a good installer in Toronto or scarborough would be even better. Thanks.
Anybody have suggestions on preventing dings on the door from idiots opening their doors into your car?? All the cars in my family have dings on them and some a bad.

Does anyone have pictures of the clear bra on an RX-8?
I generally dislike car-bra's I think they just ruin the appearance of a car and really take away from your enjoyment of it, I mean if you don't get to see the nice front of your car what's the point protecting it so whoever you sell or return the car to has a nicely maintained front :p
But if the clear one is not so obtrusive it might be an idea.
As for the dings, I can think of a few ways to stop that, but they would be illegal for the most part, except perhaps in South Africa, shock sensitive flame throwers anyone?

You can try FX Auto in Markham 905-471-7555. I got my Clear Bra installed there on my Mazda3 so I'm guess they might have a template for the RX8 since its so popular. The service and the owner Wayne is great.

Wow that does look good .. in that you can't see it at all!
I just had this image in my mind of the typical car-bra but made out of clear plastic... so this is certainly different, they should market these better I guess
anyone know the approximate cost in TO?
Thanks.
P.S. heh google is my friend, I learnt lots more here:

It's great for removing bugs too, they just don't stick well to the bra.

Thanks Bellef.
Now what about when you want to take it off? Anyone done this yet?
I will be leasing an 8 when I do get it and so would need to take this off when returning the car to the dealer I assume. So is it easy to remove?
Also would there be a difference in the paint that was protected by the bra and the rest of the car that wasn't, since one area is getting weathered more than the other?

The price will depend on how much coverage you want on the car. I only did the Hood, Fenders and Mirrors. I know others that did the whole bumper.
The clear bra I got installed on my 3 is LLumar film which has no UV protection. This results in a uniform body colour as your car loses colour from the UV rays over the years. If the film had UV protection, then the front of your hood will always keep its original paint colour while the rest discolours.

Black Rx8s and Clearbras
How much coverage are Black 8 owners putting on their cars?
I only put the 6-8" on the hood, as it would be too noticeable in other locations.
I guess it's a toss-up between protection and cosmetics.
But potentially a CrystalGuard application would be better.
