Hey guys just learn the hard way that here in quebec clear corner even with yellow bulb are not legal. Suposevely it has to have yellow reflective in it. I guess the cop din't really like me. Seing a young (23) asian boys in a rx8. Hey guess ratial status here in quebec still exist. Cause usually in that case any normal cop would of give a waring to change it back. Nope just said it was illegal and will have a ticket. Lucky me he was dumb enough to think that my front windows were not tinted because they were all the ways down. Because i dont not know of the legality of my tint it came from the dealer like that but there are pretty dark.
Anyways just to let you guys know that if you do get cough by a nasty pig it will cost 151$ nice for the wallet. teach me a lessons i guess. still think if its turning yellow or not cause i have a white pearl rx8.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. I haven't had a problem with the cops regarding my clears. Bad luck I guess. Why did the cop pull you over in the first place? Speeding?

cops can be nice or be a dick to anyone....I don't buy the racial claim...that just sounds like a poor excuse.

well for the racial comment it was just my feeling of those people and nothing else not generalising here. And not gonna bs anybody i was looking for trooble by cutting a corner too fast and i drifted a little bit. And the cop stop me for it wich is find i was the dumb *** that did a dumb move at 3 am in the morning wich is understandeble. But he took his sweet time to check to whole cars for anything at all he could thag me for and hey he found what he was looking for on the clear corner. The only thing im saying is that if i would of done that whit a normal car i would of got a ticket only for cutting the corner too fast wich made my tirer to scream wich would of been only 52$. But i am guessing that he said hey its a rich kid (wich im not working really hard to buy that car) lets try to get as much stuff on him as possible. End of the story. By the way i was polite the whole way with the cops and was never been disrespectfull to them. But hey the law is the law and i guess i was not lucky on guetting that one that just wanted to **** me off more wich he was able to do by hitting my wallet. Its ok haters will appear in any form and shape so it is not the first time that someone is jealous at me for having a car like that and not the last one, only thing is he was a cops i was at fault and he just try to made the best out of it for him. Anyways guys have a good day.

The law is written like that in a number of US states, but this is the first time I've read of someone actually getting cited for it. Very tough luck. My sympathy.

Your reading way to much into it. The only profiling I'll give you is that you are young. Cops like to ticket young drivers....other than that, it doesn't matter if you are drviung an RX8, a BMW or a beater civic with a fart can out the back...the cop is going to look for things to ticket you with....whether you are white, blaxk or purple.

I agree. I got pulled over in my first new car because I looked really young. (DWY)
The cop pulled me over for an expired plate sticker but the weird thing was that I have a December sticker and was pulled over in mid December. The sticker expires on your birthday but he would have run my plate to find out my birthday so I figure he targeted me based on my looks. FYI, I'm not a visible minority and my car was a Jetta GLI.

Well, unless your like 16 or have a bushy grey beard I don't think it really matters. You drive a sports car and you squealed around a corner. This makes cops feel inferior because they think they are the only ones who are supposed to do that. Driving a car that can actually DO that and look good doing it.... I think that is the reason. I remember when I drove a royal blue 3000GT VR-4 before I totaled it I was going off on an exit and squealed around the loop and a cop put me in handcuffs saying I was evading arrest trying to outrun him..... I told him if I was trying to outrun him why in the hell would I pull over?

none of this... if you drive a car that stands out, the cop will see it. that's basically it. some cops are **** and like to milk it for all its worth, some aren't. but yes, if you are a young driver, you may get slammed. hey, just look at insurance rates. us young people cause a lotta accidents. lol

Now, back to the topic - I know my clears are illegal here in Alberta, for exactly the reason you stated - that they don't need to BE amber, they need to REFLECT amber. I doubt a cop would even know that law, never mind hand out bullshit tickets for it.

I spoke to my cop friend here in Alberta and he wasn't really aware of the differentiation between reflect amber and emitting amber. So I agree with StealthTL that it's unlikely that a cop will bust you for it unless he was just trying to get you for everything under the sun. Didn't an American guy get busted for his stock exhaust "being too big" ... heh.

So i guess this law is pretty much the same thing across canada meaning that if the clear corner doesnt flash there has to be some yellow reflective in it. But if it flash hell with it it can be white or amber doesnt matters. That law has no point what is the diference than. Cause like a civic its a position light and a flasher so if the guys doenst put it yellow its find. I guess im just gonna pay the ticket there is no point of contesting it the law is the law i guess. Thanks guys for the input it just made me aware that if i go to another province or state its as illegal.

Can you tell me which law the clear corners violate? I looked up the laws for Ontario and couldn't find any mention of amber reflectors...
