Compression test in or around Edmonton on a Saturday?

Hey boys (and potentially girls),

Long story short, I'm looking for a starting rotary car. One got listed for sale recently that seems like a reasonable deal and the seller has lots of interest. Probs going to see it today and there's only one issue -- pretty sure everywhere with a compression tester (I.e Mazda shop) is closed on a Saturday.

Like I said he has lots of interest, so I'm sure if I wait until Monday for the dealership to be open it'll be sold. So really what I'm asking is does anyone (private entity) in the Edmonton area have a tester or know of somewhere I could get a test on a Saturday?

I'm probably SOL , but I figured it was worth asking.

Thanks for any help in advance. Might just do smth dumb and buy it anyways if it hot starts fine. :P

Yes, if the mileage isn't high and it starts hot easily, then it's likely OK.
(Park Mazda is open to 6pm!)

How many kilometers?

This is what another person suggested to me as well.
It's at 114k km, so afaik that's getting up there for what I'm pretty sure is the original engine.

Yeah hot starts will be the biggest indicator apart from a compression test. Take it for a drive and get it real hot. Shut it down for a couple minutes and see if it starts easily hot. Other than that keep an eye on idle, it shouldn't hunt too bad and make sure if feel like you have good power all the way to redline. Don't be scared to hit that RPM beeper when you test drive it.

Based on the date of this I'm assuming you already looked at the car? How did it go?

PS I'm in Sherwood Park too

Yeah, I had a handful of people me if it hot started it was (generally) good.
I ended up not even getting to look at it unfortunately. I was busy the night after the post (good ol work), and the seller stopped responding after that - so I'm guessing he sold it. Would've been nice if he could've told me :P

I've seen 2 or 3 RX8s around sherwood park, haven't seen yours tho (assuming yellow like the pic in sig).

Yeah you bet, that's mine in the sig. Last year was my first summer living here and this summer (because I did an engine swap over the winter) I haven't been out very much. I actually just got the car driveable again this past weekend after being down since May. So you might see me out more now trying to get some break-in miles done.

Ah gotcha, I'll wave out my window or something if I see you LMAO.
It's weird but I do finger guns whenever I see an RX8 driving around.

Might be going to look at a blue one in sask this week, so maybe I'll join the club :P
