Cruise control problems
Any Canadian 8's have any problems with sudden accelerations after the cruise control has been set? Better yet, have you had any positive results from dealers in resolving the problem.
I travel 40Km each way to work and use the cruise regularly. I experience a dramatic increase (15-20 Kph) in speeds about once every three weeks.
I've seen a few discussions in u.s. posts about this but I couldn't find any in the Canadian content.
I just know that bringing the car in with the complaint won't resolve anything since they won't be able to reproduce the problem.

Is the accelerate button sticking/broken (lower height then the rest to the point of almost triggering).
Either way, bring it to the dealer as this could potetially get you in a serious accident and any documentation would be good. I.E. - I told the dealer on this day about this problem....etc.

Yes, I've had the same problem.
It's happened to me probably 4 or 5 times. But then, I don't do a lot of highway driving with my car, so not as much chance of it happening either.
I've reported it to the dealer, and they've logged it with Mazda. Mazda, of course have stated they have never heard of it before.
I know some people have suggested the "sticking button" but I don't buy that one at all.
A couple of the times it suddenly accelerated on me I had been driving straight, without touching any of the buttons on the wheel for several hours.
Also, once when I had an open stretch of road, I let it run to see what it would do.
The car went from 122km/h accelerated quickly up to 136km/h, then, slowly, in small increments (almost as if the Decel button was being tapped) it dropped back down to 122 in 2km/h increments over 45 seconds or so.

there is nothing wrong with your cruise control only the way you are engaging it!
for example, if it has been set at a certain speed then u decelerate or brake it releases the cruise control coast, but then will re-engage the previous speed if the resume button is pressed, and the car will accerlerate to the previous set speed but only if your new setting speed is slower than your last. but it will only do this if you do not go below a certain speed. its late but i think that right!

I always set the cruise between 115 and 120 kph. The last time this problem happened my fingers were nowhere near the buttons and my foot was resting on the floor when the car suddenly accelerated to 136 or so.
Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone who did have the problem had it fixed. I'll post after I have seen the dealer about this and the damn squeaking brakes!

99.5% of the time it works correctly.
