Emission testing problem...

Went to get the car emission tested and said they couldn't do it because of the type of dyno that is required to do the test. They said it would likely wreck the MS skirts on the car because their dyno drops down about 6 inches. I called some other places and they said the same thing.

Anybody know a work around or a shop that has didn't kind of equipment to handle this? Of note, my car is also lowered with S-techs, which isn't helping obviously.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated...

Some places only do the idle dyno, try to find one of those if you can.

I know KVR in Ottawa does it.

scott, what you need is called a 2 speed idle test. if they say then cant test it because its too low then they can always perform a 2 speed idle test. they should know about this because they have to do it on AWD cars. just call around and say that and find some place that actually knows what you are talking about and that will be as good as any.

Thanks for the idea Greg. Read a little about it and it seems that the 2 spped idle test is for older cars, certain trucks, etc... Will they do it on a newer model car? Do you know of anyone that will do this on my car? I will call around too...

Just spoke to an auto shop about the 2 speed idle test and he said he can't do it on my vehicle because it's not a 4 wheel drive. He saud that if he does, it will raise a flag in the system and he could get audited... frigg

well last time i got the 8 etested, their dyno was really old and didnt really accomodate anything that was lower than a camry so we werent sure if the 8 was gonna clear and my buddy that was doing it said "ah, we'll just do a 2 speed idle if it wont clear" like it was no big deal or in no way cheating the system. i mean, what do you think they do with subarus that need etests? I have never in my life seen a place with an AWD dyno for doing Etests. And i cant refer you to my friend...i just cant do that to him.

Scott, your best bet is to start calling and explaining the situation. what im talking about is a way to get a legit Etest from a place that understands the system and knows what can an cant be done legally...i dont know how i feel about what footman is talking about. no offense man.

Thanks for the link. I went to a place with a dyno in the ground today but said they couldn't do it because it sinks the rear wheels. It's not like a dyno jet. Maybe that place freaked out for no reason, don't know.

I just took my car to the place next to Scarboro Mazda. Granted my car isn't lowered but they didn't seem to have any problems.

Well, not sure what all of the fuss was about because I went to Canadian Tire today and they emssion tested the car, no problem. I watched as they did and there was plenty of clearance... stupid f*cks at that other place are clueless...

Eurasia does all the E-testing for scarboro mazda as well since scarboro mazda doesn't have the equipment and what not, that's where I did mine a few weeks ago =)
