I hate when the dealer "mechanics" guess at your expense

You could have done that for half the cost

Had the exact same thing happen to my 8 a few months ago. Dealer stated it was the ignition coils. So they replaced sparkplugs & wires, along with coils. The car drove like new after repairs.

This was at Mazda of Brampton, They changed the front coils and is seemed to fix the problem. car seems to run like new. Feels more responsive. My bill came to 440$. 95$ diagnostic (which i already did on my own and knew what the issue was) 270$( for the front coils alone, he said no point in changing the rear) and they charged me 70$ to install them. So the car is officially running now. Thank you all for all your helpfull tips. im just kinda sad my exhaust is burnt. ill prolly get different tips welded on later on.

I was going to offer you my stock exhaust as I'm having it changed next week...but I see that you don't have the stock exhaust on there...not much good to you!

Again... sigh.... $342 CAD SHIPPED TO YOUR DOOR.

4 coils
4 ignition wires
4 spark plugs.

Install yourself everything took me 3 hours (first time doing it) including setting up jacks and stuff.

You spent $440 + $95 + $70 and all you got was front coils...

EPIC FAIL MAN! You're the real definition of "ballin' out of control" hahahahah

Where were you at the beginning of the thread? Seriously, I know you mean well.
The poor guy was in a panic over what was happening to his car.
At least they only hit him up for front coils.

Imagine what's happening to the average RX8 driver who never heard of this forum

The lesson to take away... Again... The coils on this car are consumables; same as the plugs, wires, oil, filters etc; and must be replaced on a regular basis to protect your engine and Cat. You can also look at the BHR ignition upgrade for less than twice the price of Footman's list but you only do it once.
