Fall or late summer meet, anyone? - RX7Club.com
It would appear that there will not be a Meeting of Mazdas this year, as no one wanted to organize it.
Given that our spring meet was so well attended, how does everyone feel about a fall meet in early Sept, or a late August meet before the long weekend?
Sigma is Sept 6, and CSCS is Sept 21st. So possible dates could be Aug 24th or Sept 7th or 14th. Are there any other events using any of those dates?
The 400 and 7 location in Vaughan seemed to work, so I think we stay with it.
I checked the RX8 forums and they don't appear to be planning anything. Can one of you who has a membership over there make a post like this one?
So, let's have your feedback on a date and we can get an official thread started.

Ian, Last time we were approached by someone stating we didn't ask for permission to use the property.
I got a card that a group member gave me when they were approached trying to find me who organized the last meet.

We need to ask permission to use the property apparently.

The security guy left a card and wanted to talk with the organizer who was in Boston Pizza for lunch (along with a significant portion of the participants). After waiting a while in his car (long delay for lunch at BP), he came over, gave us the card and asked some questions that seemed to be focused on safety/insurance of holding a car show/meet on the site. Once he learned we were not a show, were not working on the cars (he noted hoods were up) and that we met only once a year, he seemed satisfied and left indicating it was not necessary to contact the name on the card. However, if we use the same site, we should touch base with the property office to explain what we would be doing and what we can't do just to clear the way before the meet. Otherwise we may need to find a new location.

I forgot the reply to the available dates. Aug 24 and Sep 14 won't work for me but Sep 7 is OK.
There's an upcoming british car show on Sep 21 sponsored by the Toronto Triumph car club. British Car Day is the link for one of the largest british sports car shows in North America. Nice day out.

Mike, do what you want. But nothing is finalized at this point as far as I can see. Just maybe a venue change! And like here not a lot of interest. Time to buy a BMW

I am The One!
I don't see why this is an issue.
Make it Sept 7th at our usual spot (D&B) and be done with it. We never needed permission before, I don't see how it'll be an issue now.
I'm going to see what they say on the 7 forum.

^agree...I would imagine Boston Pizza doesn't mind us there. Some people are so clueless usually security guards. We are customers using the facility for what it's intended for parking our cars, meeting friends and purchasing goods from business' located on the property.

Hey bud, I spoke to the the guy while everyone was eating inside. He said if its a weekly thing then we would have to contact them and if its a "Car Show". When i told him we met here once or twice a year he said it was ok and drove off lol. Its up to you but I think its ok as well.
I also hope the weather holds up

Agreed with the above, there is no benefit to us, contacting property guys about our activities. Telling them in advance just increases the chance that they have cops there waiting to escort us out of the lot. :P
Mike, I would start a new thread if you haven't already. And pick another backup date - are we voting down Sep 14 already?
