Talking Finally getting a new tranny

Hey,

so after a year and a half battle with Kingston Mazda which consisted of them basically saying that it was my clutch and that I needed to learn how to drive and that " some grinding is normal". I had enough and had my clutch replaced at Bay Mazda in Belleville a few months ago. They noted the grinding as I told them about it before my clutch went it.....they said if they were any grinding issues post new clutch to bring it back. Surprise, surprise still grinding. Brought it back to them yesterday am, and a new transmission is going in tomorrow am.....no questions asked, no bullshit just honest people and the service manager is just an all around nice guy. Let me say it was fantastic to be treated well; something Kingston mazda lacked at to say the least, which is dissapointing especially when you are driving the flagship vehicle so to speak. Anyways, just thought I would share some good news....but you can bet the 75w140 is going back in the second I get it back.

Crappy dealers are the worst!

Good to hear you got the tranny replaced. I hate it when people shy away from doing actual work. They know it'll take them awhile to replace so they come up with all sorts of excuses.

Hard to find good help nowadays.

If you are using a shockproof 75w140 gear oil in your transmission be careful. Shockproof gear oil is for NON synchro racing transmissions, it will cause your syncros to stick and cause major damage........ask me how I found out...................(4 stock transmissions later)

We use Redline MT90 in the race car. In my street cars I use Redline MTL. We dont find that street cars that do occasional track use generate enough heat to warrant a 75W140 gear oil. We have done a bit of research on gear oils and have found that a lot of straight gear oils do not recommend you use them in syncromesh style transmissions.
