Finally got my RX-8 (Calgary)
Hi guys, I have been on this board for a couple of months now and I finally picked up a 2007 RX8 GT today! I picked white because you don't see many white 8s out there and I have never owned a white car.
I will try to bring the car home right away after work because snow is suppose to start late this afternoon and I don't wanna get stuck with summer tires somewhere. I will post pics soon!

congrats!! you will love it so much you will begin to think the subway 30 mins drive away taste better than the one down the street. I still look for every possible excuse to drive mine and it is always the highlight of my day.
Now we need another Meet to welcome the new guy, maybe I will show up too haha

damn that is nice....
Just wondering, they are giving you the MS wheels, and letting you have the OEM wheels as well? Since in the other thread, there were some saying they only let you keep one set...

Welcome to the club!
Congrats on the new purchase! Your going to LOVE your new car!
Please go to TireRack and review the best tires for your car, for the environment you are in. TIRES make the car!
I got Potenza 960 AS PolePositions, because they are phenomenal in rainy conditions! and in BC it rains and rains and.. well you get the idea.
Talk to a tire specialist about whether: a perfect all season is better, or a secondary tire set for those occasional bad weather seasons is best.
It would be a shame to only enjoy your fabulous car's full potential 3/4 of the year
ENJOY!!

The clutch is a bit tricky... and the shift lever requires a bit more effort the RSX, which makes a bit more difficult to shift smoothly. Gas mileage is..... well, the needle points at 1/2 tank, and I only gone 210 km. Is it gonna improve after break-in??? most likely not, eh? since, I will probably shift at higher rpm after break-in period.

210 is about what I get for half a tank if I'm lucky... and I redline it once every few days (sometimes twice a day if I'm feeling feisty )
I found it a different shifter and clutch to get used to too, my first few days were pretty choppy *insert embarrassed smile* pretty bad for driving a manual for over a decade! ha ha.
Did the dealer tell you to not rev over 5k for the break in?
I find it lugs under 3500, just doesnt sound right, and I stay away from anything that or less unless I am accelerating..
Glad you're having fun and loving it.. it burrows its way into your soul!

I am kind of following this:

Cloud7 --> here are a couple of other break-in procedures.
RACING BEAT
- For the first 1000 miles (1609km) do not accelerate under full throttle.
- During the first 1000 miles (1609km) do not exceed 4000 RPM.
- For miles 1000-2000 (3218km), expand the RPM upwards - but do not accelerate at full throttle.
- Over 2000 miles (3218km), full throttle and high RPM is acceptable.
Japanese Rotary Mechanic
0-600 (965.4km) Follow the Manual, but keep it under 4000
600-800 (965.4 - 1287.2km) Open it up a bit, vary accelerations and speed RPM < 5000
800-1000 (1287.2 - 1609km) Drive the car, enjoy it but still keep RPM's < 6000
1000-1250 (1609 - 2011km) Drive it as it's powercurve intended it to be RPM's < 7000
1250-1500 (2011 - 2413.5km) Test the car frequently from RPM's 6000-9000 in every gear
> 1500 (2413.5km) Drive it anyway you want, U DA MAN NOW!!!!!!
Can't remember who (Mazda tech?)
0-100 miles 4000 rpm
100-200 miles 4500 rpm
200-300 miles 5000 rpm
300-400 miles 5500 rpm
400-500 miles 6000 rpm
500-600 miles 6500 rpm
600-700 miles 7000 rpm
700-800 miles 7500 rpm
I know the manual says you don't have to follow any specified break-in, but just to be on the safe side I did. In my opinion, the Racing Beat is very conservative and torture if you don't put much mileage on your car (like me). Personally, I followed the break-in suggested by the Japanese.
The mileage on your car usually improves as you put mileage on (about 50-100km/tank). 210 is pretty decent for half a tank. It's been awhile since I drove the RSX, but I thought the shift effort was more on the RSX (it was a base one thought)???
