ya, ill bring the plugs.

No CEL. I even was tinkering with the car at lunch with the catless midpipe still on and everythign was working just fine. I was watching how the rear o2 sensor was reading and it was right where it should have been somehow. Its weird though, im getting the best mileage ive had in a long time. im at 200km at just barely past half a tank....

coils are about 1000km. plugs and wires maybe 5 or 6000km. Checked the plugs the other day and they are mint still. i just changed my oil today to, and it reaked. It was the nastiest smelling oil i've ever had come out of the car. definitly no more than 4000km on the oil. it was definitly full of fuel, very thin and oh god did it smell.

Can't some of the other more experienced mechanics at the shop help you diagnose the problem?

wow, this really is turning into alot of interest when it started as a simple little intall day. we'll see how many people actually show though. haha. Everyone has their own agendas. I just like to hang around and help out i guess. I'll definitly be there though. I put the straight pipe back on until i can figure out why its running so rich. I dont want to kill the new cat if i havent already. Tinkered a bit with it before we closed and pretty much everything seemed right on spec. there were a few things that the tech said were sort of stange. Also, i'll be doing a compression test on monday night. although its unlikely that the motor is the cause. I sort of just wanna know how it is.

Greg ask around it MIGHT be because it's new if everything else is norm. Not saying it is, just a thought I have no clue.

ya, i asked that too. the tech that i trust the most (and has more years of experiene with mazdas than i have on this earth) said its not normal. So we spent an hour checking things out on it. there were some weird readings regarding some of the EVAP stuff, specifically the purge valve. everything was perfect on it, fuel trims were right where they should be so there has to be another reason its running so rich. this weird reading from the purge valve is the only thing out of line at all. So he's going to do some research for me before we go replacing any parts. He's very thorough and in the hour we spent on it i learned alot about this sort of thing and diagnosing it. I really like that he wont guess, and he wont ever throw parts at something. I think initially he wasnt keen on helping me because i just jumped the gun and called a cat on it (which again, was a problem, just that there is something that caused the cat to die).

... Are you serious? I get 2xx on a half tank easily. I think I get about 420km on a whole tank, which isn't bad.

Who's wants to meet at Fairview for 9 tomorrow. Mark bring the booze, - will dump them into a cooler when I meet you.

^ PM sent

Looking forward to a great day of mods... and some HT action

Let's plan to fire up the BBQ between 1pm and 2pm. Will make a trip to the store a little before that to pick up what we need.

Please note that on my street, you can only park on one side of the street -- look for signs.

Was at Scarborough Mazda getting MS skirts installed today and met up with Jay, Chris, Josh, Albert and Al. Good times!
