I didn't put any oil yet. I checked it this morning and I was still ok.
I have 1000KM on my 8.
I've fill up the car 3 times already. Not including the full tank when i picked up the car.

Hey Shaft, check out the oil light threads in the main discussion section. Some are reporting that the oil light goes on even tho' no oil is required. It has something to do with the baffles in the oil pan. They need to be replaced.

I just added a litre of oil this past weekend. My oil light went on (only at higher speeds 120Km/h +). Checked the levels. I was down to 1/4. After adding the oil the light does not come back on. My dealer said that I should probably add oil at about 4000Km but I only had about 2100Km

Not just the rotary world...my BMW 330Ci used to suck down oil like it was going out of style.
I used to have to put 2 quarts in every 5,000km or so....meaning 1/4 off of the stick after 2100kms isn't anything to worry about. These engines just run hot as hell, and burn up the oil.

Do you have to check oil when engine is hot or cold, it says in the manual to check it at normal engine temperature, like 5 minutes after shuting down engine so oil goes back in pan. So I check it when engine was hot , and I had oil a bit over the top line, ( to much? I mean dealer preped the car )
I'm at 700 km

Doctor, I found some at Walmart! Pennzoil $3.89 a quart I believe, so not cheaper, but easy to find at wally world. I picked up 2 "just in case" bottles.
I'm at 1050Km not needed yet, but it was overfull before, it's just at full now.
