If the deflood procedure doesn't work, you have two options.

1) Push start (hard on clutch)
2) Get it towed to the dealership (hard on wallet)

have someone push your car down hill get up some good speed, have your key set to on, push in the clutch and have it in first gear before pushing, when it is going at a good speed, let the clutch out all the way really fast, and throw it back in as fast so it doesn't stall. Engine should be running then.

Yeah, I don't get this flooding issue.

I turn off/start my car all the time when it is cold. Sometimes it is running for less them 1 minute (just rolling the car out of the driveway. I always do the 3000-4000RPM rev before shut down and my car always fires back up later when I start it. Even with my weak 2004 Starter.

**** man!! Mike is lucky I never turn off my car cold. I have read as long as your temp gauge is over the first 2 big lines and rev it up then you can turn it off ok. No way do I chance that, even if it is just hit warm up temp and I have to turn it off, I rev it up.

Get her started up, don't hit any gas or do anything, just let her sit idle for 5-10 min she should clean herself out.

No not on a normal day! I'm telling him once he gets it started to just let it idle until it works his **** out. I let mine idle normally when cold between 2-4 min, depends if I'm smokin or not and how long it has been sitting. Same oil here and I do my best to hit redline every day. U will only notice problems later in life of your car.

I've never shut my car off when it's cold.

I have an 07, though, so I should be fine with it, but it's not a risk I'm willing to take.

I redline it multiple times a day.

When I was looking for my car I test drove one that was imported from the US. That car was in crappy shape, but pretty cool looking. I bet you it get mistaken for a Jag or Aston Martin all the time.

$55 a plug where did you buy them from? That seems a bit pricey. Good to hear she is going again!

55/plug would be about dealer list price IIRC.

as for bumpstarting the car like marc mentioned....its not coincidered good practice to bump start a car in first gear. you should be able to get it up to speed enough to use second gear. first gear is very violent unless you really know what you are doing. i dont recomend it for a first time bump starter. Ive had sticky situations with my suzuki swift GTi where i had no choice but to bump start the car in reverse. that was an experience. lol.

Once the engine is flooded, does it do any harm to the apex seals to push start it? Isn't the lubrication compromised by the excess fuel?

and cranking the engine over with the starter differs how? the fact is you need to get the engine started. im sure flooding it isnt good for the engines life for this reason, but the apex seals aren't doing anyone any good if the motors running so...priorities, i guess.

I saw what I can only imagine is a Nordic Green today on the 427 northbound to the airport. Definitely a colour that only looks good when completely waxed up. Al, you getting a lot of flooders in lately? by the way, had her stutter just a little the other day. Think I'll be getting new coils after Christmas.

i dont thinl u should do a push start in first gear especially with the rx8 do it in second u get more compression....oh make sure when the car bucks and start press the clutch and lots of gass floor it or it will stall
