flooded rx8

yesterday just moved in and out of my garage and this morning wouldn't start.. first flood in the year i have this car..
what a pain.. but then call roadside assistance, took it to avante mazda and they had it fixed by end of the working day.. pretty good service there, as thats where i bought my baby..
changed the sparks, the starter and did the thermal heat recall...

well hope this won't happen again, Monday is not the best day of the week, and this made it worst. But then besides this I love every min of this car...

anyways just wanted to share my miserable monday story..

Good to hear that they got it started no problems. I take it now you will avoid short moves. If you must move short distances, rev the engine prior to shutting down. Rev, let the rpm fall a bit and turn off the ignition. This allows the excess fuel to spin out of the rotors. There's a discussion on the main page regarding this and alot of fellows believe that the new flashes eliminate this entirely ... I believe the new flashes reduce the chance of this happening but there's still the chance (as in your case).

What flash were you on, prior to the new flash as part of the recall?

Just out of curiosity, did you try the suggested restarting procedure after the engine flooded?

To answer ur questions..

I did have the lastest flash as they told me on my last service. so i thought this would elimniate this flooding problem, but guess it didnt.

and i tried the starting procedure that was in the manual, and nope it did not work... so..

but now i got a new starter, new spark plugs, etc.. it's not that bad.. and true the new starter starts spinning much faster, actaully sounds pretty cool..

I always knew that the flashes don't eliminate the chances of flooding! Do you usually rev up and shut down?

Hey mzpeed, I met u last august because of the DB metting. How come u are so busy man? I just ask u for a drink take sometime out I have been waiting for 1 year and 13 days. Its also a shame that we just live within 5km and we only met twice.

Btw, I got my S Tech and Rotary crest installed want to see? ALex got the Intrex but it's like the height only fit for a shoe. Thats crazy.

We need some show off in the commerce gate. Come on man, u need your own space not all taken by your wife.

Looking for an intake now, only HKS / Blitz will do me. But HKS spec mention only for 6 speed, I am disapointed.

Call me man!!! and pls pick up calls!
