frick, first a door ding, now this BS... who did I **** off!?

so you can tell from my other thread I got my first door ding just over a week ago

well couple days ago I saw a bunch of scratches on my bumper when I was walking toward my car! so I thought someone just walked in front of my car in the tight parking lot and scratched it.. pissed off but.. oh well .. there are a **** load of rock chips on it anyway, why not a few fine scratches. So i went home, took some scratch remover and then waxed my bumper.

well today when I was walking toward my car I notice the reflection on the bumper was a bit off, so i took a closer look. and HOLY **** they were not just a couple of fine scratches, my bumper is cracked!! it was a god damn hit and run.... the other car must've tried to turn away from the parking spot.. hit my bumper.. then just kept going and scratched half my bumper!!

Picture's worth a thousand words...

1. the scratches that caught my attention at first....

2. when I look under it, the bumper is pushed in and cracked the bottom side !

3. it extends all the way almost to the end of the .. opening..

4. Upon even a closer look, my front grill is cracked too on BOTH side, this is a picture of one of the side, the other side is cracked as well

WTF!!

Now you know why I don't daily drive my 7 anymore!

I hate stupid people like this! Even if you manage to park a thousand miles away, there's always some idiot who manages to hit you!

I feel your pain buddy... Now it's going to cost you a bit to get that all blended and repaired... stupid people who can't park!!!

Yeah I have had people backing into my front bumper scratching it to hell too. Just remember, the sh-ttier the driver, the bigger the SUV. I kind of wish bumpers are still black unpainted hard plastic like the old Volvo and Porsche.

Are you sure you were hit? My front bumper has VERY similar cracks/scratches on it, but it wasn't because someone hit me....

*sigh* [Embarassing_Story]
I owned a Toyota Avalon for the longest time, and then it got totalled. Its replacement was a Mitsu Galant. After more than a year of owning elevated, 2-ton, "tanks", I learned to get my kicks by flooring it over big bumps.
Well, when i traded my Galant in for the RX8, I (without thinking... obviously) floored it while driving up a steep incline into a parking lot. I managed to break my foglights, dislodge the silver lining in the front rotary accent, splinter and dislodge the front plastic grill (thus losing my front license plate), and put several cracks across (and through) the front lip... ALL WITHIN 4 HOURS OF THE TIME OF PURCHASE!!! (go me!)
[/Embarassing_Story]

My point being this: did you ever catch your front lip on anything? The plastic grill can pop in & out of place with even the slightest impact of the front bumper. Any chance you might have caused these marks and not know it? For example, ever park too close to one of those concrete tirestops they put in compact car spots?

...just a thought...

oh trust me I know its a hit. my car was parked in an overflow parking lot so there are no concrete tirestops. ( plus the damage is on the top of the bumper, not on the bottom where the lip is) Also I do a walk through around my car every night so if there is any new damage to it i would know right away.

you can also tell where the first impact point was in the first and second picture, and where the bumper starts cracking as he/she pull to the side ( the horizontal line of scratches) . And the grill definitly cracked from the inital impact as both cracks occurred right under the attachment point between the grill and the bumper

OMFG! That is terrible! Can you park facing a wall or on the edge of the parking lot (where there is nobody that can park across from you)?

This blows. And me too. My rear took a beating the other day.. my fault. Pallet of charcoal colored landscaping brick, 15" high, its raining, and its in my cul de sac on the road. And me, backing out of the driveway..
So guess what I did. I decided to inadvertently move it.

I say we order a copper red body kit together, you take the front, I take the back. Deal?

I hate people that hit and run.. the lowest of the low.

people just have no respect for other people's properties... 3 days after I got my RSX, it was hit on the right fender above the wheel... albeit a light hit... got it fixed, and then it was hit at the same spot a couple of year later... what are the chances??? both hit and run while my car was parked.

I'm extremely picky on where I'm parking ... my spot is the spot where everbody else would say "aww man ... it's so far". For example, if I'm going to Chinook center, I'll park across the street at Home Depot (right by the pedestrian overpass) or at Le Chateau or even in one of those small business parking lots (I seem to remember a dance studio?) --> I end up walking 5-10minutes (good exercise too!) but at least I know it's less likely that some idiot will back into while putting in a DVD for the kids and talking on the cell phone.

Slowlude --> somebody actually crapped on your car???? WTF!

The world is full of people who've never successfully made the transition into adulthood. They might look like an adult and act like one, but after two beers and a shot they start sh-tting on people's car and ripping off your side strakes. That's why you can't have nice things.

Well my wife drives an older E34 5 series and works on 17th ave. On one of the coldest day this year in Feb, someone took a **** on the front bumper by the grille cuz I guess it was warm. Stupid hobos. I didn't know until the following day when I took my car in to a mechanic and the poor mechanic thought it was mud. Man was I embarrased!

Frenzy, you should park on the 2nd level by the theatre at Chinook. There are a lot of individual stall there and no one parks at the end of that lot. Even on boxing day there were stalls available!

I always park far far away from the mall enterance!

Especially in the dinner mall parking lot, imagine those ppl when they are full they went back to their car and rush for sex back home. They bang your door before they bang their wife.
