Terrible sight!

Just another word of warning to those without front plates in Ontario....the cops WILL ticket you.

Saw a terrible sight last night on Queen Street, in downtown Toronto.

It was about 2:45am and the cops had pulled over a sweet looking Porsche GT (the super car!). The owner was seriously only about my age (30).

I had been watching from the bar I was in and it hadn't looked like he'd been doing anything wrong. The cop sat in his car for literally 30 minutes, don't know what he was doing. He was still there when I was leaving.

Anyway long story short I asked the GT driver why the cop had pulled him over.
Answer: no front plate. $110 ticket.

Seemed to me like the cop was just begrudging the man his supercar, but what can you do eh?

Hahahah.... maybe when we colonise Mars. The way McSquinty's gov. are going on a witch hunt on all modified cars, the chance of having rear plates are nigh on improbable.

Front Lic Plate

I had personalized plates, after "30' years, the Ministry recalled my plates, (I had the same set replaced at the 20 year mark) So, I now have new Personalized plates, what would happen if, I put back the old plate front, but have the proper plate with sticker on rear. I really didn't want to give up the old plates, but I would love to keep the front the same, and the rear proper...(I would keep the proper front in the vehicle, and if caught just say, 'Ohh the screws are stripped, and I will get to it.....Thoughts?

As stated by previous posters, our cars look infinitely better without a plate, but it's not worth the risk of being pulled over as I'm running a radar detector, no cat, etc.. About 10 years ago, I split my time between Toronto and Montreal, so was running Quebec plates. I got pulled over a few times by cops because I did not have the front plate. They obviously let me go as the car was registered in Quebec, but I got stopped anyhow. The kicker is that this was in an almost bone stock Honda Accord.

One option is to install a retractable plate mount (- Hide The Plate.com). I've seen guys use these on RX-8s on the track. They simply fold and retract under the front bumper.

There will always be that ******* cop who needs his quota filled. Sooner or later you will meet yours. Decide for yourself if it is worth $125 plus a record every year or two.

agree..... just wait you will get a ticket.... not if but when. deleted mine years ago off my previous car, drove around for about 1 week. then got nailed, do something stupid and they will be all over you for everything, exhaust, lights, noise, checking your wheel gap.

just buy a Harley or a truck with insane loud pipes and drive through neighbourhoods at 1am.... nobody will bother you for that.... this is fact.

Just off-set the plate. I think it looks better - best to be gone altogether, but for now that's not an option.

After getting a no front plate ticket two years ago I made a bracket like this and got nailed again. You will get a ticket eventually for that because under the law your plate is still not "properly displayed" I even went to court for it and still lost.
