no it was metallic...
it was like 180 + tax at Audioheaven and they use the Solargard film...
they have a lifetime warranty too.

I just checked their site...
no idea why 2-door costs more now than 4-door for that second package
I remember the 4-door being 200+tax when I got it done

Ceramic tint because our rx8 got rear window with integrated radio antenna.

FXAuto uses Formula One Pinnacle ceramic tint:

The unique technology utilized to produce the Pinnacle Series of films makes it the most state-of-the-art automotive film today. With the advanced electronic systems in today's vehicles, it is imperative that a window film allow optimum performance at all frequencies. The advanced technology utilized in manufacturing the Pinnacle Series provides a proprietary non-metallized, non-conductive, ceramic technology film with maximum heat reduction, maximum ultraviolet rejection, excellent optical clarity and blockage of infrared rays.

You'll most certainly be satisfied with the look. I have it, and RX8Thunder also has it from the same place.

Here is some manufacture information: http://www.formulaone.com/pinnacle.htm
Dude ... that price is insane!!! I had mine done 2 weeks ago at Audio Heaven in Markham (55 West Bearver Creek unit 43) north of 7 just west side of Leslie. audioheaven.ca - tell them that the guy with the 04 SS RX-8 from a couple weeks ago sent you.

I got 35 and 20 with a Visor ... tint is all computer cut and the back window is one piece! I asked for an appointment with the best man on it ... all in for 200 cash! No tax that way ... oh! Be sure to stop by Charlottes a couple of doors down for some Scottish pies (no sugar added).

I can only speak for the Pinnacle ceramic that I have, but man does this stuff make an obvious difference. On a sunny day, with the windows rolled down, when the sun is shining on your face/head you can feel the heat scorching your skin. But as soon as you roll up the windows and allow the sunrays to pass through the ceramic tint, your face is immediately cool. It's definitely noticable.

haha I notice that too. I like driving with the windows down but when that sun hits my face, I roll up the window. Tints definitely help.

I remember before I got them, when the sun would hit the steering wheel and I forget to leave cracks in the window, they'd be too hot to touch. One thing I hate about leather...

With comprehensive insurance, stone chips can usually be fixed for free... but if the chip was there before you had the car, you cannot claim it.

Call your insurance agent and ask about it.

Last time I had a stone chip it was totally free to be fixed. Replacement would have cost the amount of the deductible. They usually fix chips for free because it is cheaper for them than buying you a new windshield. That was on my parent's car though before I had my own... maybe they have a 0$ deductible?

so insurance companies will actually do something good?!? hehe

you should also see if you even have glass coverage. I know companies like adding in the glass exclusion endorsement for comprehensive (S13C).
