Gonna cry

Just thought I'd share my first pain to all the canadian owners.

I knew my parking space was too tight..

Took a narrow turn into my garage, and heard a *scrump* sound. Looked back... yup hit the friggen post. Rear left fender is completely dented in, and scratches extending across the entire fender to the rear bumper. And from what BIU experienced, I'm betting Mazda can't remove the scratches.

I'll be bringing it in for service this week... may not have a car for the upcoming weekend drive with you VC people.

Consequently, talked to the dealer and they suggested Don Dean's or Craftsman Collision. Anyone have experience with these body shops?

I have a scratch on my rear from a tight parking spot as well. The only thing I can say is that we did it. Imagine if somebody hit your ride and took off without you knowing about it? I hope that makes you feel a little better. Here's a site that may give you some insight on what can be done. Hope this helps

Well.. i didn't want the hassle, so I went and left the car with Donn Deans Collision. Breakdown of work:

2.5 hours to fixup fender
1.5 hours to fixup rear bumper
4.0 hours to paint both
+ replacement rear decal

Total = $813.43 (OUCH!)

The bad news is, it will take them 3 days to ship the silly decal up from the U.S. (it's only $12)!!

The good news is it's the 4th RX-8 they've repaired.

FYI...Since it involves a paint job, they actually have to repaint the entire panel and rear bumper to ensure continuity. This means they have to actually paint from the rear fender all the way to the A-piller. They have to remove the entire rear bumper and paint it. They're also optimistic about removing the scratches from the plastic bumper entirely (Here's hoping)

Thanks for the info hobbes.. there's some good info on that site!

Did that to a BMW a while back.

Good news is that there is no structural damage. If the tech is good, the repair will be unnoticable.

Good luck.
