Got pulled over by RIDE tonight
So I was at a backyard BBQ this evening, had a little bit of liquid refreshment, decided to leave at 1 AM. I'm happily driving along Eglinton homewards, tunes blaring at a respectable 28.
Lo and behold, RIDE is there and I get waved over. First officer looks at me, looks into the car, waves me on to the next one, so I inch forward (not a good inching car by the way - especially in heels), next one, flashlight out, looks into the car waves me to the next 2 officers. Now, I'm fully stopped. Same deal, flashlights out, looking into the car.
"Have you had anything to drink".
"Well, yes....half a glass of wine" (which was the truth....I nursed that glass for 4 hours, but as usual, if I have anything at all I feel guilty)
"Well ma'am, we're going to have to commandeer your vehicle."
"What????". (as my stomach drops) My passenger said the look on my face was priceless. A Kodak moment if ever there was one.
"Yes, we will need to commandeer it for the rest of the shift. We have to find out if it handles as nice as it looks."
They started to laugh, and so did I. My Raquel, she's the best.
And the cops.....gosh...I love a man in uniform, let alone men. All in all, a good night. In retrospect, I should have let them take her for a spin. We would have had more cult members I'm sure!

because of that I have become a near master of "R.I.D.E avoidance". *knock on wood*... I've been pretty good at spotting them ahead and or using the force to sense their ensuing presence; thus giving me option to make a quick turn.

I would have loved to see Toronto's finest all jump into an 8 and drive around, that would have been great to see.

No I didn't miss the point. If I had been pulled over and told the guy I had 1/2 glass of wine, they would have pulled my from the car and right into the bus far a test.....or maybe you just lucked out and found a cool cop who knows a nice car when he sees it.....and if that's true I have a nice unicorn for sale. :D

Cool story, Cubakid. I was 'tailed' by an OPP cruiser from Markham to Meadowvale, on 401 east mid December 04. I saw the 'cage' behind the front seat in my rearview and slowed but he stayed about 2 car lengths behind. Eventually, he hit the roof lights, I signalled and pulled onto the shoulder. He just parked & waited about 10 m behind for me to get out and walk back to the cruiser. Guess he wanted to watch me navigate.. Anyway, the short form: young Asian-Canadian officer.. checked over my license, entered it in the C-picker and then commenced a friendly conversation about my car, my opinion of the Mazda 6 which he was considering leasing.. etc.. Wished one another a Merry Xmas etc.. told me he'd hit his roof lights to slow down traffic so I could get into the right lane. "Then floor it!" he called out. "You should be able to do that in the RX."
I said something like, "Uh, huh. Thanks."
His parting shot, "I figured so.You were doing 140 clicks when I started to follow you. I didn't mind that so much, but I thought I'd better pull you over in case you'd been imbibing or were a kid out joy-riding in Daddy's new 8."
End of story. Epilogue: I've seen him twice since then. Once he waved; the other time, he was looking the other way.
