Yes, I did double checking as well and Rotten is correct. But here's the wacky thing ... I think that it may be the other way around ... the brake tap resets the NVRAM (still eccentric shaft stuff) and odometer method resets the KAM (fuel trims). Well, I'm basing it off of this particular service bulletin (seems to say that brake tap resets NVRAM). Maybe a typo but I don't want to go through ALL of the service bulletins.

Either way, lets just say that brakes = drive shaft reset, and odo = fuel trim, etc reset

... !!!!!

oh what the hell! i do this all the time when i listen to music and tap to the beat !!

:x i thought the oil pressure needle was like, 'score, u tapped in time to the music perfectly'. actually i had never noticed that :x

C

1) Turn the ignition to ON (not START)
2) Depress the brake pedal 20 times in rapid succession

The oil pressure needle will sweep to mid gauge and back again indicating the procedure was completed successfully.

You must be quick, and you do not have to press the brake pedal hard ... just good taps.

Aventa Mazda I did the R flash, sorry for late reply. However I did the 25k service with the R flash. Maybe this was the reason I can feel so much diff than b4. But in terms of faster let me verfiy is MUCH MORE better in Triptronic MODE. In D mode is slightly better.

THanks

Ask for Jose / Joe in service dept. in Aventa Mazda or just say u are in the Rx8 club. THey will turn out to be your troops in no time.

Btw, I had replaced the brake pad 3 times. (No charge) 2 times in Young and Steels which Aventa now sold the location to Toronto Mazda. b4 they sold it I went to there to fix my brake that's 1st time. 2nd time was cheating with the same location but as I said they sold it to Toronto Mazda. They don't have my record. 3rd time was back to Young and Major Meck. Now no MORE DAM SQUEEZING, it really pissed me off buz looks like I don't have any money to fix the brake pad when I was stopped at the red light.

Btw, my interior console is so hot sometimes, what do I ask for service? Heat shield recall?

Thanks

Reason why some may want to reset the PCM is because the car learns your driving style and adapts to you. So if you drive like a grandpa, you'll find that the rpm will rise slower. I don't know if you have ever done a track day or just drove aggressively down the highway, but you may have found that the pedal response is heightened after such activities. Reseting sets it to "stock" so that the PCM can learn your "desired" driving. Since the PCM is constantly learning, there is no worry if you initially drove like a grandpa, that it will not adapt to your current habits.

On the other hand, if you have bad habits, the PCM will also pick up on it too ... so the reset will clear them as well.

I don't think that there's a point to doing the reset immediately after getting the flash, because the techs essentially resetted the PCM for you.
