Halifax and Good Friday?
Hey Halifac 8'ers!
I'm doing some military training in a town nearby Halifax. I know Halifax fairly well, but what I don't know are the bar/club hours for Easter Long weekend. I know in Winnipeg, all bars are closed that friday, making Thursday the busiest bar night of the year! Also, are most places open or closed during the day on Friday? Hoping to do some sight-seeing.
Looking to grab some people and have a few drinks and enjoy the East Coast life once again!
If someone could fill me in on the night life schedule for the long weekend, that would be great
Here's to nice weather and good times

Halifax RX8ers is probably me.
Where are you training? Aldershot or Greenwood or something?
Pretty much every night is a busy night for the Halifax bars (a number of them don't close until 4am every night) so it being a holiday the next day won't make a huge difference. I'm pretty sure just about everything is closed for Good Friday, although, I haven't really payed much attention for a couple of years.

Is probably a good source. It's the local weekly entertainment paper, has all live music listings (a number of bars have bands every night)
Upside is, a lot of the sightseeing doesn't close so you can still see the scenery.
Not sure what our plans are for the long weekend yet (might be spending a chunk of it in the garage) but keep in touch.

Ha I'm in Aldershot. Been here before, and I love it! Something about the east coast reals me in.
What about clubs? Will they be open friday night? I had a look at that paper, but I can't navigate it too well (not enough time lol).
I'll let you know what we decide to do! If everything (including bars/pubs) are closed Friday, we'll probably drive down for Sat, and head Back Sun.

I know! This is my 3rd time out east, and I've always enjoyed my time in Halifax. As a matter of fact, I've even considered moving out here one day. Possibly change my trade in the Canadian Forces...

Small world. A friend of mine was here on Sunday morning, then had to drive back down to Aldershot to pick up his daughter who's there training. (She just finished high school, so I think she's in reserves or something?) I don't have all the details. We aren't THAT close...
Anyway, The Coast is showing listings for what bands are playing in what bars this Friday, so that's a good sign. But, best idea, before making the drive up, would be to pick one of the big ones (not sure what your scene is) like The Dome or The Palace, and just call and ask them. I'd hate to be responsible for you having wasted drive.
.... and yes, Halifax is a popular spot with the US Navy... 19 year old drinking age + easily 100 bars withing walking distance of the dockyard + 4am closing makes us a bit of popular destination.
The novelty kind of wore off for me by the time I was done University.
