Has there been any canadian having to replace there motors?

i have done some research on this motor and im trying to figure out what is a main factor for engine failures. if you have can you tell me where your located and any explanation of the replacement. or any problems in general.

I believe a poor unfortunate soul from Calgary did. Don't fret the engine failure. It's rare in the grand scheme of things. Maintain the car like a good enthusiast and chances are you will have many years of pleasurable ownership.

thats good to hear, im just sick of hearing about the motor problems, what about how fun it is to drive? having a 2 cyl producing 250 hp? i think thats cool of all, ya wow you have a v8 but i got 2 cyls and beat you in any corner. what more to say?

I am on my third engine, I didn't get to even drive the second one. The first one went in downtown Toronto traffic, check engine light flashing car wouldn't idle and shut down. Started it back up, huge plumes of smoke coming out the back, turns out lost compression to the rear rotor. Second one dealership installed, shop foreman takes it home for testing and dies half way home, same problem as the first, lost compression on the rear rotor. Third one I just picked up yesterday, hopefully 3 is a charm. I have no idea how any of this happened, I maintain the car regularly at closer intervals than mazda suggest and am always aware of oil levels at all times. Coolant and water wetter in the radiator, bone stock engine. I do have quite a bit of mileage, I'm at 72000 kms right now but mostly highway driven

I'm on my third engine. The first one went on me after only 1.5 months. The second one blew last year. Both failutres were different.

I have not babied the car no have I bagged the crap out of it.
I've always changed my oil regualrly...usually early.
I've "hit the beep" on a regualr basis
I've always had the newest flash or TSB's done


IMO...it has to do with the car not oiling properly at low rpm. i.e. ruch hour traffic. My car spends alot of time in rush hour traffic. It is also where I get the worst gas mileage.



But the failures isn't what really pisses me off. I can live with that. It's the bullshit 3rd degree attitude of the service departments @ Mazda that has me looking to what my next car will be when my lease is up.


You can either believe that most of us have taken care of our cars but still had had blown motors for some yet to be determined reason or you can put your head in the sand like many do here and say it's the ownerws fault. I am confident that I am not going to be the last person around here that gets their engine replaced....especially if it is a 2004 car.

Mine's waiting for an engine. Over the last few months, they replaced the coils, changed the cat twice, verified compression a bunch of times, asked me to run on Premium, then ran some test and determined it needed an engine.

I just had my coils replaced when my car started thowing CELs and started overheating. I'm did not sense any power loss on the butt dyno but I'm losing faith in this car right now

most of the problems here are typical of any car, people just put it on the rotary engine. ive had 7 cars now, 5 rotary and 2 piston, and both piston engines died after 6 months. i havent lost faith in pistons, but id never race one, or drive it hard. best thing for any rx owner if to be a 12a powered machine, and really dig deap into it.

I've never had another car blow its engine...this one has blown 2!

I've attached the acceptable ranges for a compression test. Note, if you have the upgraded starter your cranking RPMs will be higher, which should be accompanied by higher pressure readings. I haven't seen a graph that accounts for the new starters, but you can at least get an idea from this one.

Yes, but I've been to Canadian, so I'm qualified. I haven't been to Calgary however. Then again that was due more to the fact that the people there are ******.

all i can say is thank god i do not have these problems with my 8. i feel bad for you guys cause the 8 is a nice car.

hi
they are replacing my engine at this moment after one year of trouble shooting
at every oil change schedule i complainded of a ratteling noise when i would accelerate the car the problem started at about 60.000 km, things to look for are
engine pinning, engine vibrating at idle, higher fuel consumption, lose of hp
