Have you noticed when parking your RX8 ?
Good day to everyone's
I recently park my RX8 on a big slope driveway, facing forward,in first gear and turned the engine Off, and waited, then the car started to roll backwards on me !!!
I usually use the parking break, so I hadnt realized this problem before...
Could you try your cars and let me know if all RX8 are the same ??
If not, I then have a problem with my transmission or something else??
The car backed up just a couples inches at the time but could be dangerous if near
a road without the parking break on !!!
Thank's for your help...

This doesn't happen with the V-Red cars....they are so fast that they actually can end up rolling UP hill with the car turned off. I think it’s just an issue with those weaker Silver cars. Maybe they sense the imminent doom from the curse.

But one time i was in my driveway and had the parking brake up, i have a slight incline on my driveway and when i sat in the car, it started to roll back!!!
That was when I first got it over a year ago and realized, the brake sucks and we have to leave it in 1st gear at all times!!!(when facing forward)

back on me, if I wasn't inside the car at that moment, it would have been serious consequences, I was thinking maybe my transmission was going, since I know lots of you guy's had problems with it...for the rest of you .....well, nevermind,
I refuse to lower myself to that level....Thank's again midlife crisis :o

Also, it is always a good idea when parking on an incline to turn your wheels in towards the curb.

I had a problem a few times last winter - the parking brake indicator light would stay on even though the handle wa down
It would go off after the car warmed up a bit though.
I also have noticed when parking on my driveway with a slight incline that if you don't fully pull the handle up, the car will start to roll a bit
I also noticed that part of the hand brake becomes very rubbery in the hot weather if the car has been out all day.

In all seriousness. The rotary doesn't have enough compression in the engine to hold it on a hill, even a small one. Compare it to having only 2 chambers of compression = 2cyl. You'd have the same problem.
So no worries, nothing wrong w/the car.

Dan, Maybe what you need is a drive around Prince Edward with Quick 7 and myself. Quick's RX7 has been painted since you saw us in the spring. We could have a beer at the Waring House. Maybe we can get Hela's and Mick and everyone together.

It least Mazda owns up to these recalls. Look at what some of the other manufactuers have done...many times they don't issue a recall unless lawsuits have been filed..
