Hello!

Hello members!
I just thought I would say Hello in this forum as I can legitimately post here having purchased a new RX8 Wednesday night.

I'll just have to scour this forum and find out some interesting things about the car and it's owners.

We pick up the vehicle from Kramer (Calgary) on Monday evening so that likely will be drive it home and put her to bed until the snow goes away. Maybe if the weekend is nice The wife and me can take it out for a pleasure spin or 3!

Ciao for now

Welocome to the cult.....details, auto or stick?.....color?......last time I looked on Kramer's lot they only had two black cars and the Titanium demo.

oh....get some winter tires a.s.a.p....pray that the roads are clear for Monday night because you will be taking a big chance with the summer performance tires if snow in on the road.

Thanks!

I wanted Titanium without a moonroof and the only one around was in Edmonton. They were willing to bring it in for $350 (which was acceptable) but they wouldn't dicker on the price. So we "settled" for the GT Silver 2004, stick, black on black seats (all what we wanted). We paid them for the taxes and fees and spent about 3 hours hammering each other on final price ($39610). Added afterwards rustproofing and undercoating.

We in all liklihood won't be driving this car in the winter as we have a '97 Expedition that'll handle the worst of all that.

Thank you for the advice on the tires. I was pretty certain I'd need them if I was tackling winter driving. If we go for your suggestion any suggestion on specifically what to buy?

If it is still poor out we will wait until later to take it home. It's not as if we "need" it desperately for primary transportation.

Wow! You kicked the crap out of those dealers. I think that you are officially the one that got the lowest price for a GT w/o roof (beat me and Rotten42 by 900 bucks).

Too bad it's going into hibernation before you get to use it. Congrats.

Thanks BF.
We started out at $39K firm and held our ground for the longest time. They came back about 3 times with the "manager", and we finally said "we're hungry- we're going to Chinook to get a bite to eat; sharpen your pencils!"
We came back and the manager called the (regional mgr??) and they came with their "lowest possible price - it's still below our cost" "If my wife came in and offered this I'd have to tell her no."

They were still at $39,830, and we agreed to move to $39,500 MAX. After another 45 minutes of this dicker dicker crap we were about to walk out as we had told them that the other car in the running for our dollars was the across the street waiting for us; the Acura TL ($44K) and it's not as if it's a kidney - we don't "need" this car. They begged to meet 1/3, 2/3 on the difference and we agreed : $39610.

We went in with the www.carcostcanada.com pricing for the EXACT car that we ended up dealing on, so we had a huge advantage from the beginning I think. Even still that original pricing was below that even and we had marked it up 3% for profit. That, and we were both prepared to "BUY" and "WALK" and remained steadfast throughout.

What a trooper the wife was; a couple of times I was about to move and she stepped on my toes under the table. She must have been reading my facial expressions or something.

In the end I think we got a pretty good deal and we got a car that we hope will serve us well. We leased it because I've never owned a Mazda before and this is a new model with bugs to be sure. I wanted the opportunity to hand them the keys after 4 yrs if it was a lemon.

Weather report looks 50/50 at this point. If no snow we'll drive it; if slushy it can stay parked.

Still would like to make a decent day trip somewhere (Invermere, Radium)... but I guess that will have to wait for nice weather. Something to look forward to in the spring.

Sorry it is Sunday and a little cold so the brain is working at half speed, but $39610? was that the final price after taxes and all that? what was the price sans any extras?

Thanks.

If you go the snow tire route just do a search on that subject and you'll find about 2 hours wotrth of reading. Who did you deal with over there at kramer?

Battousai:
That is the final price including all taxes, fees, dealer markups, PDI.
We went into the "financing room" and added on 1 yr comprehensive warranty (because we went with a 4 yr lease), Undercoating & rustproofing (giving them absolutely no reason to deny any claims).

Rotten42:
Etienne Gagnon (an absolutely super nice guy). and Bobby ? the mgr of some sort.

Can't remember the financing mgr's name.

Overall a very nice group of people I feel I can trust (provided I stand my ground)

I honestly do not know much about this dealer at all. I have had no experience with them previously and also have not heard anything from anyone else. I am glad they are moving closer to me than Chinook though.

Ha ha ... that's funny because the guys I dealt with at Kramer were jerks and wouldn't budge AT ALL (we were at 43.5K all in). I thought that the fellows at North Hill were much better and flexible! Ehhh ... Sunridge was even worst than Kramer IMHO. But that's just my experience

I didn't have a good experience either at Kramer. I was dealing directly with Bobby. Sometimes I think its all a matter of timing...slow day..whatever.

Ditto on that. Bobby and I had a handshake deal, which I broke because he started tacking on all kinds of costs. I walked, and bought from Sunridge.
