OMG! That's Hilarious!
Well..............at least you all hopefully made some new friends!
Oh.....and you in trouble girl! I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever forget this one!
FYI..........this could come back as the sensor is known to fail. Being low on coolant could cause this issue to speed up, so don't be suprised if it comes back. Then you will need to search on "coolant bottle" or "coolant sensor". The only real cure if it comes back will be to get a new bottle.
Some need to write up how this all went down! I need a good read!
From now on we shall demand photos!

Okay, so the real stories goes like this....
First thing plugged in Scangauge and verified that there were no DTC codes stored. That's a good sign meaning nothing significantly wrong with the car to warrant a stored code.
I busted out all my electronic metering/measuring devices. Ran through all the checks on her battery with no load/full load. Checked out her generator's output current on idle, and with load and everything checks out OKAY and are all within spec. Checked continuity on all vital connections, everything GOOD.
So I'm like what the ****? There appears to be nothing wrong with her charging/battery system at all. I suspected it may have been a different warning light, so I went and disconnected the PCM --> Generator connection to simulate a "faulty charging system" which would kick the BATTERY LIGHT on her dash.
I ask her to take a look at the dash and ask if that is the light she sees while driving... she says "no!!!"
That's when she pointed out it's the one on top of that, I'm like "**** that's the COOLANT LIGHT!!!"
wasted 30 minutes diagnosing the wrong problem, but oh well, had a lot of fun. I realized having Leesha on a road trip would have been a total blast! She's real fun!
Checked the coolant, it was low. Filled it up, took a test drive and monitored her coolant temps using Scangauge real-time display. Stopped the car, checked for leakage, none found.
Sent her home... fun evening!

LMAO 2 dealer visits and 2 battery test covered by them cause they wanted to charge me the $60...to only find out after adjusting a few things that the light that was in question wasn't my battery light.

and yes, I told Leesha that I had a problem on my brand new 2007 RX8 as well. Last year I replaced the coolant tank because it's known to have a failing coolant sensor.
Now that the coolant tank is full, if it flashes again and it's full, she has a case on her hand that she can report it to the dealership. They should replace her coolant tank for free under warranty with little to no hassle. I had no hassle at all at Scarboro Mazda.

Okay, so I'm only confused by one thing now.
Was there any pic or video of said light before?
The ONLY video or pic was just the one posted a few minutes ago with you all in the car. Nice to put a voice with Leesha though..............that was cool!
Glad you didn't get any tickets!

A note to anyone who helps Leesha, Make absolutely sure you know what you're diagnosing. Meaning, try to recreate the problem yourself. Never, ever, trust her word!!!
I tried to get on before you did, but of course my internet took a flop.
Got it back up and running now. lol
It was entertaining to say the least.
Remember, always leave the dead alone. Never try to harass them! They're dead! Leave them alone!! lol

Oh no, not another "Lincoln Memorial" warning light thread!
Troubleshooting 101 - first make sure you know which idiot light you've actually got, which includes never trusting the [idiot] woman driver (j/k)!

Lmao... Ok but Neo and Footman deserve one of those too!!!
You know why? Because I posted a vid so that they could see the light in questioning. It looked like a stupid battery light to me. The thing is I did stop at a gas station not to long ago & topped my oil and coolant. But only put a little to the 1/2 line. It should have been about 1/4 way up from that 1/2 way point.
Lets hope everything is fixed now & my car isn't absorbing coolant!!

Houston we have a problem...
The coolant isn't where it was when we marked it. it is 1/2 way down from that line. However we marked it when the car was still warm so hope that's the reason.
I'm going Falls tomorrow again and for Canada day so I'll see what happens there...

Yes, liquid expands when its hot and contracts when it's cool. Add coolant now when it's cold, fill it back to THAT LINE.
Keep the marked tape there for the time being and monitor. After you fill it up, in a couple of days if it has to be filled again and again, and we verified there is no leak, then it means your engine is consuming coolant..... time for NEW ENGINE cause you have micro fractures and cracks in your housing.
