You should do some research as to what suits your needs.

Try Racing Beat, Mazdatrix, etc...

Also, there is no "real" gains through a header as Mazda has done a good job on the exhaust manifold w/the limited space that is down there.

Of all the aftermarket exhaust out there none have been trashed on this board. So since NONE of them provide a significant increase in power the issue of which is ‘best” is simply personal choice and cost. So what are you looking for? I have the Greddy SP2, which is one of lower costing exhausts. I like it but to some it might seem loud under certain conditions. I drive a lot so if it were annoying I would tell you. The Greddy also has the largest tips of the bunch, again some people like them; others do not. The Racing Beat exhaust is also popular and is said to be not as loud as the Greddy or Borla and have smaller tips.
Forget about changing the header, the only thing that will do is cost you big bucks for little gain. You will have to search very hard on this board for positive header upgrade threads. In regards to what “ fits better”, they all “ fit” the RX-8 but some require more work to install than others. The Greddy & Racing Beat exhaust also include a pipe that bolts right up to the mid pipe. Others might require you to disconnect the OEM exhaust from it’s pipe which could be a pain.
