Hi Everyone

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the fourm and was checking out sites for the Rx8. I purchased production model number 61 in yellow a couple weeks back. The car should be arriving on my driveway in 5 to 10 days.

I'm curious to know if anyone in Toronto has a RX8, or if they're any clubs in the city.

Cheers

Pete

Welcome to the board Pete!

What dealer did you get it from that you're getting it so quickly? You must have found one of the few dealers that haven't sold all their allocation. Based on what I've seen here and heard, no one in Ontario has taken delivery of their RX-8. It appears that they are starting to ship from the B.C. port by rail but will probably be delivered to dealers across the country at the same time.

I ordered mine at the beginning of March (shortly after the Canadian International Auto Show). Mine is not scheduled to be here until September.

Are you looking at adding any of the Mazda accessories? I'm trying to look at ways of getting a good deal on them. There's some good people on this site that are trying to help as well. Based on geography, I might be looking at putting together a group buy with my dealer to see if we can get some significant discounts. I need to find people in the GTA, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton area primarily. Interested?

What the hell?? I don't understand. Your dealer guaranteed you'd have your car in 5 to 10 days? You purchased it a couple weeks ago??!! Damn, this really blows. I just got a call from my dealer today, he told me "cars are in Canada, should be any time now". God only knows when that "any time soon" might be. Prior to this call, I hadn't heard a peep and I, like Broose ordered mine like in March. By the way Broose, I have the same car on order. Red w/ Black/Red interior + Moonroof, I also ordered the NAV. I saw the Red press car in person a couple weeks ago, looks amazing!

Oh, and welcome to the forum Pete! :D

Cool!!! That would have been sweet to see it in person. I saw the red one at the auto show in February. I was leaning towards that colour originally and was glad that the one at the show was exactly like the one I planned on ordering. Hard to say however how different the colour might be outside instead of spinning around on a platform with special lighting. Seeing that one however did confirm my decision to go ahead with the red. I really like the red/black leather combo and in Canada, red is the only exterior colour choice. In the U.S. they have a choice of 3 different colours with the black/red leather.

I just heard from a forum member in Edmonton that he just got his car today. Maybe there's hope for everyone afterall. In speaking with my dealer today however, as of yesterday mine is still scheduled for production. It's suppose to be produced in July and arrive in September. I'm trying not to hold my breath.

Any interest on the accessories thing?

I'm looking at the front air dam, side deflectors, rear under deflectors, rear spoiler, air outlet stakes, rotary crest (F & R). I was thinking about the exhaust finishers but can't afford everything. If I have to leave something out, it's going to be that.

I was just on the net today investigating alarm systems and was looking at that one. I got a list of dealers in my area but didn't call to get any pricing yet. Did you get a price for the unit and monitoring?

My Fellow Canucks...

dON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ANY AFTERMARKET ALARM SYSTEMS. tHE INTEGRATED SYSTEM IS MORE THAN ADEQUATE. yOU CAN ADD THE sHOCK sENSOR uPGRADE FOR A FEW BUCKS. THE FACTORY SYSTEM IS REALLY GOOD. FOR EXAMPLE, TAKE ONE OF YOUR KEYS TO A KEY SHOP AND HAVE A DUPLICATE MADE. WHEN YOU PUR IT IN THE INGNITION, IT WILL TURN BUT IT WILL NOT START THE CAR.
SAVE YOUR MONEY. TRY THE FACOTY SYSTEM
Yes. boowana while a 21 year Texas resident is actually a Canuck...

I just remember that I started two "Hello" posts. I just saw this one right now.

my bad ...sorry

I was going insane looking for a model for about a week or so. I called every Mazda dealership in Ontario and still no bites. I then was on my way home from work and decided to check out Prima Mazda. I went up to the sales guy and told him that i'm familiar with the situation that RX8's are sold out across Canada. He said that one of his customers just came by to cancel his order. I put $1000 deposit down so that i could temporally hold that VIN. I went back yesterday and did all the final paper work. I then ask the sales person which production mine is and he said he would call me back. I thought he meant later on, but as I was leaving the Mazda parking lot he called me on my cell phone and told me it's 61. Not the 61st yellow one ..... Just number 61 made.
Lots of peope canceling there deposits because they're not approved for the credit.

In regrards to the accessories. I like the Front and Rear crest. Supposivly they come with a jewel in the center of the crest, but thats only legal in the US. The car already looks great on its own so I don't see myself doing much to it.

Pete

You'll be surprised - the hand is old and wrinkled, just like the rest of him! (Just kidding, Boo!!! :D) I've shook that hand before...

Wakeech, you misunderstood - boowana is an ex-Canuck, he's lived in Texas for 21 years. He hardly remembers how to say "eh?"!! :p

Regards,
Gordon
