Hot & Cold plugs for -30?
Hey guys, ill keep this short and sweet
just paid a bundle 275 for plugs. I ov checked vendors and found them cheaper
different part number for the ones i have tho....
I noticed that there are "hot" plugs for rx8, so do we then have "cold" plugs for up here?
has anyone bought a set of plugs from lets say mazdatrix or something for ~$100 american and put them in a canadian rx8? in the winter?
thanx

I've bought plugs from all these companies.
I try and stick with BHR - but I'm one of the fanbois

I'm no expert on heat ranges but according to NGK our plugs have a heat range of 9 which is midway on their chart

the "hot type" plug that mazda and some other suppliers refer to is just one heatrange hotter than the normal plug. they decided to offer this plug because some people that never drive their cars hard or only ever make short trips with it...over time the standard plugs can fowl up. so the idea was to run one heat range hotter and maybe that will keep everything happy. I wouldnt recomend them if you like to redline your car on occassion. they are designed for the owner who wants to babie their car and thinks shifting over 5000rpm is torture. it has nothing to do with ambient temp or climate.
