My highway miles are slightly better as i found out today on my 100% highway drive. I went 332 km on 36 liters of fuel.

yea that's like 80% highway. City driving with lots of traffic really kill the mileage.

but the fuel warning light will turn on when u probably still have about more than 10 liters left over cuz when i see the fuel light on, i always just go to the gas station to fill it up right away; however, i never actually filled about 60 liters and not even close. usually around 47-48....

From winnipeg to calgary I did an average of 600km/tank that was with the Accessport installed.

I seem to get WORSE milage in Calgary as I did in Winnipeg...but I will blame the hills which force me to shift higher than I normally would in the flat lands of Winnipeg.

I go between Petro Can and Shell for my gas, anyone find out which brand gives them the best milage? I usually use shell 99% of the time because of airmiles.

That's very good...I get 500+ from both my trips, from CGY to Van, and Van to CGY.

I use Petro 99% of the time in Calgary, it's what's near me usually. See no reason to try others either.

In Vancouver, I use 93 octane Chevron 99% a slight drop in mileage, but that's probably due to the traffic.

BTW: how's the AP? I'm itching to get one myself.

The AP works well...but I'm trying to find one of those cell phone holders to be able to monitor it better, know of any asian cell phone accessory stores in Calgary?

Hmm...interesting, did you get a custom map done? Any "performance" mods on your car?

I thought my gas mileage was low until I read this.

Winter I get just over 400km when the light goes on from full

Summer - I get about 430 km when the light goes on from full.

I know this for sure since I always set my trip meter everytime I fill up.

I'm guessing that you do mostly highway driving? Now in the summer i get about 260-280 on a tank with almost all city driving. Highway i got about 400 to a tank. I just changed out the spark plugs today so we will see if that has any effect. I also asked how much it would be to do the coils and mazda quoted me about 100 dollars a coil.....that is retarded, most places on line are about 25 for OEM mazda coils.

So...I've decided to start tracking gas milage based on gas station...
Last tank I did a little worse than 12L/100km which is like 19mpg in city, in Calgary, and I don't drive lightly. using petro canada.

I went to an esso station today will know how good/bad it does in a while, next one after will be shell.

Are you still running the MM fuel saver map or did you switch to a different one....since i changed my plugs out i went to about 15/16mpg from 10/12mpg with city driving.

MM doesn't have a fuel saver map...I'm using his stage 1...but using one that runs richer at WOT as his original maps ran a little too lean (on my car) for my liking. It's a little rich now, but better rich than lean =)

Potentially if I get a datalogger I can get even better mileage (get a map made that's more tailored for my specific setup)...but gas stations might make a difference as well.

Esso gas...is around 13.4 L/100km in the city (Calgary) same driving style same everything.

So worse off than Petro Can...just filled up with shell...next might be Superstore.

Since these are national brands they should be similar across the country, if anyone else would like to also see if they can duplicate my results it would be awesome =)

From my last fill up with Esso 91, I saw 40L/300km (13.3L/100km - 17.6mpg)

Shell V-Power 91 I saw 12.8L/100km

Refilled up with Petro will confirm results (self note: Forgot to reset trip computer until ~22km after)

I just noticed with Petro if you have a points card you save 3.5c/L Some esso stations are 5.5c/L auto and shell is 3.5c/L auto.

Again I have quite a lead foot =)

I usually go about 300km on a tank and I usually get about 16 to 17 L/100 km

I use Shell V-Power and drive 100% city(and drive it pretty hard)

Still this is much better then before i got my sparkplugs changed(20L/100km consistently)

Some of you must be doing all city (hard driving at that) driving.

Typically with combined, maybe half and half, driving, I get about 410 to 420km per tank (gas light on) but I did a few long road trips....yes cruised at a whole 110 to 115 kmph (around 3500rpm on cruise control) and (WOW):

516km on one tank (that's 28.9 miles per imperial gallon) I cheated...couldn't force myself to put in premium (f@#$$#@@ rip off) and did mid grade....RUNS GREAT either mid or premium. ESSO

254.5km on next half tank (30.8 mpg)

totalled together 770.5km on 73.823 litres (29.5 mpg)....(24.56 mpUSgal)....(9.58 L/100km)

THAT'S ALL HIGHWAY AND CRUISE CONTROL ON AT ABOUT 3500rpm

So, not so bad! Only about 10mpg less than my VW Jetta but well more than double the horsepower and just a little more fun (LOL).

You can do it too on long trips.

Hello, McFly...this is the RX-8 board not the Mazdaspeed3 board!

*consults spreadsheet* best I have ever achieved in all-highway driving is 10.6 L/100 km (22.2 mpg) with the cruise control mostly set to 118 km/h.

The actual MPG is very sensitive to your cruising speed. I've gotten 9.5L/100km by doing 90-95km/h on country backroads. Once you get close to 3750rpm, your MPG dip into the 11L/100km territory.
