How Much did you pay?

Anybody with a similar configuration...plaese tell me how much you paid. This is what a Dealer quoted me.

Titanium GT with moon roof ($40,595.00) the following (prices are "installed" prices):

- Rust Proofing $877.00
- MP3 Player $700.00
- Strakes $450.00
- Rotary Crests $300.00
- Skirts $1,855.00
- Spoiler $630.00

I'm trying to read this sales person's attrocious writing, but everything comes out to $53,080.00 after sales tax and other taxes. now this is more or less MSRP. But is there anybody out there witha similar config that managed to pay less?

Further I always thought for some reason that the MP3 player was a swap option with the changer. Unfortunately, the sales person says otherwise. If this is infact true i can live without the MP3 Player....but everything else got to stay.

Your feedback is much appreciated.... opinions from people in Toronto preferred as it is most relevant.

Thanks

I could tell you what they cost me, but I don't know if what I say will matter since Canada is a completely different country..

TODreamer,

Here is the pricing sheet I have from Mazda (Ajax). I will put the list and then the #hrs to install. I believe their hourly is $75 but don't quote me.

Item MSRP Labour
MP3 Player $529 1.2
MP3 Player Panel $30 0
Strakes (air outlet garnishes) $400 0.4 (comes in ste of 4)
Rotary Accent (front) $112 0.1
Rotary Accent (rear) $130 0.1
Spolier $551 0.7

I'm not sure what you mean by "skirts". They have all these broken down into pieces. i.e. Front Air Dam ($713, 1.0), Rear under deflectors ($402, 0.8), Side deflectors (2) ($450, 1.2)

Hope this helps!

I would really think you can/should get about $1500 off MSRP for the car and 20% for all the accessories.

good luck!

"skirts" = entire body kit (not counting spoiler)......You had the right idea. Sorry I guess I was just using slang.

I'm assuming 20% off accessories and 1500 off MSRP is what you got?..... what dealership did you buy from?

Ajax Mazda,

A young sales guy (Mark) is really good and reasonable. I think he's sold about 10 - 8' so far compared to the average of 2 per sales guy.

STOP!!!! I don't know if it's too late, but you're getting ripped off big time here.

Rust proofing - this is a 90% profit venture for dealers, and gives you NO added value. Dealers love this because they make a ton of money. Do NOT buy dealer rustproofing.

MP3 Player - the in-dash 6CD changer comes out to install the MP3 player - it's either/or, not both.

Strakes - Those cost $195 US from forum sponsors Trussville or Rosenthal, so less than $300 Cdn to your door. They are very easy to install yourself. The rotary crests are similarly overpriced, and even easier to install yourself.

Sorry for the late post - I was away for the weekend.

Regards,
Gordon

I don't bother with rustproofing, personally. I've heard good things about Krown, IIRC - the oil-based spray that has to be repeated annually. For leather protection, go to Canadian Tire - any of the leather conditioners like Meguiars, Mothers, etc. are what you need. There is no one-time leather protector (not that works, anyway). Same deal with dealer paint protection - it's a profit scam. Wax it yourself regularly, you'll get far better paint protection!

Gordon
