How much is my R3 worth?

How much is my R3 worth?
I am trying to figure out if I should sell the car. Looked at autotrader.ca very few listed so it is difficult to get a gauge for how much I can realistically get.
Here is the 'ad':
It is an 09 r3 (09 means, better transmission, engine cooling, oil capacity, r3 - bilstein shocks) with 58k. All highway miles (Windsor to Toronto and a few trips to Boston), all maintenance done well ahead of time, including plugs, diff and trans fluid. Complete service records. Car has been rustproofed but I try to avoid driving in the winter, when possible. I will put on brand new rotors and like new pads all around before I sell. And will throw in a set of Toyo winter tires with 17 wheels with 80% thread left.
Car has one year of additional warranty on it so it is good for 4 years and 100k.
Upgrades include, racing brake stainless steel lines, racing beat sways, racing beat oil guard protectors, mazdaspeed shiftknob, leather shiftboot, 18x8 OZ Ultraleggera black wheels which look good with the blue exterior.
-------
Will I get 26 for it? Or am I dreaming?
Do 'potential buyers' care that it is an R3 as opposed to the GT model?
Is the typical buyer for this car a guy who wants a sporty looking car?
Any dealers on here want to give me their opinion, I think Anthony from MaxBimmer lurked here a couple of times.
Anyone know people who are interested or have any thoughts. The reason I am getting some opinions is that I may have to pull the trigger on an E30 before selling this car so I want to get some thoughts on the likelihood of getting some value out of the car.
THIS THREAD IS FOR CANADIANS ONLY, DO NOT MEAN TO BE RUDE BUT THE US HAS VERY DIFFERENT PRICES/DEALS.

Well I would think that it's pretty high mileage for what it is. I can't even find another 09+ with that kind of mileage. The only thing I can find is ~06-07 and they're all between $16k and $20k.
I'd value it around $20k for private sale because for around $20k there are tons of 06-08 with 10km-25km on them.

I'm assuming that you're talking Canadian Dollars, not that it makes much of a difference right now.
There are quite a few new r3 owners that picked them up new for less than 26. There are a few that picked them up used with well less than 10k on them for less than 22. I don't want to sound like a dick, but you'll never get 26 out of an 08 with that many miles. You'd be lucky to get that price if it had 5k on it.
It may be a bit more rare in canada, but the fact that it's an S2 vs. and S1 will be overshadowed by the mileage and price tag.

To all USA Posters: Canada has very different prices on cars. In the US you can get much, much better deals. EVEN THOUGH THE CAD HAS BEEN CLOSE TO PAR TO THE USD FOR A WHILE NOW.
So my questions are mainly aimed at Canadian posters (no disrespect - unless you are ShellDude) but I don't think you can help me out here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To my fellow Torontonians who have any feel for the market. Is 20,000$ the best I can hope for?
Anyone has a feel for what a typical buyer looks like. Maybe some of people who work for dealers or deal with cars can give me a some advice.

$31,000 w/ about 700 miles on it with what appears to be up to $7000 in incentives... and that's a cold call (online price)
don't worry about sounding like a dick... I got that part covered. Good luck with your sale my northern neighbor, lol.

You can't compare the US and Canadian markets and US and Canadian prices.
That said, I think $26K is optimistic. The market for the RX-8 is just so tiny. And many buyers will be scared off by the fact you've tracked your car (which is idiotic I know but it is what it is). Do you still have the R3 rims? Those are a big selling point I bet.
Perhaps I'm just being pessimistic. I got a mailer from my dealer going on and on about how much they needed my trade-in and how they'd pay top dollar. On a lark, and loving the thought of an R3, I called them up. Maybe $4-5K for my 2004 with only 100,000 km!!!
But you're in a good spot because you don't HAVE to sell. Throw an ad out there and see what happens.

Now to people who are actually replying on point.
Am I wrong in thinking that people who buy this car understand that 09-11 are better cars in the long term? I used to own an 05 and r3 has a much better suspension on it and a better car overall.
I saw 09 r3 with about 17k on it listed for 29.995$ by a Mazda dealership.
So with my millage and + winter tires + some light mods I thought maybe 25,000$ will be reachable.

However I would never get a Series II because the after-market support for them is considerably less than the Series I as there are so few of them out there. However that is a personal preference, some buyers may not be interested in that.
That said, the real killer is your mileage and the fact that you don't have the (extremely expensive) OEM R3 wheels.

Spoke to my sales person at Mazda. He also said about 20 grand closer to the summer. In his opinion those who know what an rx8 is prefer the r3 to the GT so that may be in my favor.
Don't know how big of a deal the 19" wheel are I think it looks better with the black OZ wheels and prices for tires are much cheaper & better ride but that's just a matter of personal taste.

One piece of advice to get the most value out of your car. Sell your aftermarket components outright and put the stock components back on the car. Most buyers will not care about the aftermarket stuff and will definitely not give you more money for it. You'll make much more by selling your aftermarket stuff on this forum and selling the car stock.

The real killer is your mileage like others mentioned, and I would definitely go with shaunv74's advice.
Getting some money back from selling aftermarket parts, also aiming for general public market, as some people aren't comfortable with aftermarket parts.
GLWS!

Or it will be like the Porsche 944S2 and 968...unpopular then, unpopular now (aside from the enlightened few ).

Edit: Thanks Stealth!
It will not be a collector's item because not enough things were changed. Personally, I do like the bilstein shocks, recaros and no sunroof but they could have done more.
I know the millage is relatively high but it should pretty much stop once I get to Toronto + Mazda guarantees the engine for 8 years or 160k.

Blackbook says $18.5-21k. So the dealership quote was in the ballpark.
I've owned my RX-8 for 5 yrs and it has been a great car. No regrets whatsoever. The rotary engine will always carry the reliability stigma, there is not much we can do about it. You just need to find another gearhead who is willing to take the leap of faith.
Normally I'd start to get the itch to get another car right around now, but I can't find anything to replace this one with.

I agree. I was looking at selling my car more than once, then I realized it would take another $10k+ to get something that would even come close. The only thing I would trade the car for at this point would be a mint FD, and even that would set me back a decent chunk of coin.

1st thing you are fighting with resale of RX8's is how much cash Mazda has thrown at them over the years. In 2008 Mazda was offering a $12,000 rebate on 2007 models which automatically makes anything older than 2007 worth $12,000 less right off the bat. If you take actual dealer net on your R3, then subract any rebate money, then lose about .15cents per kilometer you have on it.

Al, I think you articulated the main reason very well. I got a good deal on mine but the car is not selling and now the 10s and 11s are getting the same deals. I wish they would stop making them asap so the values stop dropping.
How do you think the depreciation graph will look on series II once the car is discontinued and assuming there is not new rotary? Will it be worth 17 grand with 80k next summer.
Will putting and intake (racing beat with duct) and kw3s help keep its value up for that 5% who understand what good mods are worth or is this always a recipe for not getting a penny of what you invested?
