I finally got my 8
For those who have seen my previous post here, I have been trying to get rid of my 350Z for awhile now cuz the wife is pregos with our first kid. Well I sold my 350Z and jumped right in to a 2005 8 GT Blk on Blk w/MS exhaust. I just picked it up Saturday and I am liking this rotary world so far. I am pretty sure my boy is going to love it.
Any advice on how to take care of this beautiful machine?
I am such a virgin with the rotary and I dont know much about it
Is there a fix for the cold winter starts? I heard she doesnt like to start when it freezing
Thanks guys/girls
See you at the next meet hopefully

1) start by filling in your location in your avatar.
2) check your oil every other fill up and always keep a bottle of oil in your trunk just in case
3) warm up in the winter before shutting down (needle has to move past the 2 longer ticks in front of "C" before shut down)
4) go to dealer and perform SSP 77 oil cooler lines recall, and ensure that your name is registered with Mazda North America for your VIN (So you will get future updates and such by mail)
5) Reminder that your engine CORE components warranty is 8 years / 160,000km from when your car was first registered by its first owner.
6) If you wanna REALLY take care of your car, put several layers of thick wax in fall before the first snow (Carnauba will provide more protection than synthetic, but synthetic can look glossier). Then during winter, take the car to a $2.00 wand wash once a week and just spray the underbody and lower panels (to get rid of salt). No need to spend $8 for full car washes because it's just gonna get dirty very soon. The point is to get rid of the salt form corroding the underbody components

Regular oil checks,
I usually change oil in it every 3k-3.5k but im tardy this month im at 4.5K.
Otherwise Andrew (Footman) got everything else covered. Its worry free driving, the myth of rotaries requiring alot of maintenance is just to scare away piston heads

Footman what's the web site for Mazda North America you are referring to?
I always make sure to let my car warm up for at least a few min before driving. I do it in the summer, but more so in the winter.
Get good snow tires!!!! Blizzaks and you will be all good for the winter.
Congrats and enjoy!

Excellent advice guys, thanks!! I am really starting to like it more and more. Now I see what all this fuss is all about. Who needs pistons anyways!!
I was just driving doen McCowan and a few lights came on my dash.
it was the e-brake, ABS and the car skidding light
Does anyone know what this is?
I am taking it back to the dealer where I got it to let them know
Also when I am at a full stop and in neutral, when I put it in 1st there is a kinda clunking sound
anyone know what that is
