I need a car within 2 weeks...help me
Being the poor planner that I am, after graduating university and getting my job I've managed to save exactly nothing for a car and have invested much of my previous "Car fund" with my freind the "investment banker" who will undoubtedly loose it all. My probation at work is up and my other buddy is probably getting sick of me driving his extra car, so i need something ASAP.
I'd like to spend less that 25k before tax because I'm saving for a house, so used is the route I'll be taking. I'd love an Rx-8 and have seen some at or under 25k but don't have the time to go examine them all. I am hoping someone can suggest a car they might know about, know the history of, a friends friend or some **** like that. Maybe someone works at a dealer and can recommend something. So far Mazda dealers have been useless.
Other cars I'm considering are a WRX s2000, and RSX-S or maybe some '00 325/328CI or something similar. So if you know about any of those let me know.
Thanks.

^ thats Blue Eyes. Out of school and 34!
Blue, why used man? A new si is 26 and better than a RSX. Even a Cobalt SS is respectable. I'm sure you can talk 'em to under 25. If you're on a budget, do not get an out of warranty WRX or BM, you're asking for trouble. Want RWD, try an MX5, they are heavily discounted.

I actually and a little suspisious of this thread considering blue's history in this forum. Some one hack his acct?
If that is you Blueyes, Get a used Evo from someone that you know. or a wrex. or an FD. You can get nice FDs for 15 grand. I dont think you would be happy with the 8. Just my opinion.

Good luck and congrats on movin' up. I did the same about three years ago. (And my spending habits are only now modulating enough to save anything)
As far as the car goes, I am a practical person, and I can see your point about the RX8 being a good compromise. In my experience, it has been. Its roomy, a good daily driver, reliable despite posts in this forum to the contrary. (Not the best snow car. You get snow?) Unfortunately, I couldn't rest with just the stock RX8, and I think you know that you will itch for more power. You are already considering the wrex. Plus the AWD cars can handle winter. I love my car and I would expect others to do the same. I was just expressing my doubts that if you had to get a car and leave it stock, if YOU would be happy with it.

I'd like to keep my monthly car payments + insurance under 15% of my net income and it's just not possible on a 31000 dollar car with the finance terms I'm looking at.

I'm considering selling mine. It's a 2004, silver, sunroof, 85K km, regularly maintained, and includes snow tires on rims. Looking for price in the low 20's.

How about a Miata??
Most Miata club members baby their cars, so there are
many excellent bargains.
just one example on Vancouver Island...little too far for you
but shows what is out there. Check out some Ontario Miata Clubs
