I think my 8 is dead
well i was driving home from buying food today and had to have my car towed!!
As i gave her some gas all of a sudden she made this funny lurching motion, a strange noise came from the engine and she stalled. Couldnt get it restarted, i managed to coast off on a side street.
Tried again to start the car and the starter cant even get the engine to turn over (and its not the starter because i could hear it straining). I think my engine just seized up on me!
She was just in for an oil change Saturday morning, and everything was running well, but i thought she had a slightly strange sound at idle for the last two weeks or so...
Had to get roadside assistance to tow her to the nearest dealership, so now i have to wait till tomorrow for Oakville Mazda to let me know my babies fate....

Man that sucks. It's rare for an engine to completely seize. The only time I've heard of it with a rotary was from a faulty engine rebuild. I would suggest you attempt to crank it over with a socket, but you obviously don't have the car.
The oil level light should have gone off if the oil change wasn't done properly and there wasn't enough oil. Oil injector failure doesn't cause the engine to seize (guess how I know). Essentially you need the bearings to be starved of oil.
As I wrote the above and thought about it, I think that it's not seized and it's something else. It's just very unlikely.

yo, that's a good news at least you got it warranty, if it dies you can probably get a new engine shipped from japan, but it takes a week to get your car back.

Hey RXSmooth, I'm surprised we haven't met yet. You apparently live up the street from me. We should meet up at Timmies at Neyagawa and Dundas. Up for it?
Kevin, not so bad, getting a new engine with about 60k on your old one. Kinda scary though how that can help without any real forewarning...

yeah that is scary... I'm at 40k now, and I'm sure Kevin does all of his oil changes, top-ups regularily... seems like no amount of preventive maintenance stopped his engine from dying
*sigh*...
